Georgia's practice focuses on family law, offering services that include "Collaborative Practice," "Amicable Divorce", and mediation, as well as courtroom litigation. She helps her clients with a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, annulment, modifications, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
Georgia graduated Top Ten Percent/Honors at Emory University College of Law. She has extensive and varied experience in litigation, mediation, and negotiation. Georgia regularly provides professional training for family lawyers and Judges. Her dozens of presentations have included ones for the state-wide Georgia Family Law Institute as well as ones made for local gatherings of attorneys and Judges. She holds the rank of Master of the Bench in The Charles Longstreet Weltner Family Law American Inn of Court. The well-regarded Martindale-Hubbell’ Peer Review Rating system has recognized the high quality of her legal work and ethics by awarding her the prestigious rank of “AV Preeminent”. In 2019, Georgia was selected by the AJC as its "Best of Atlanta" Collaborative Divorce and Family Law Attorney.
Georgia is proud to offer family law services to both traditional and nontraditional families. She has aided numerous clients with custody claims relating to Assisted Reproductive Technology, same-sex relationships, and grandparent relationships, and has also instructed lawyers and Judges on the legal principles governing these rapidly changing areas of the law. She is a fierce and persistent litigator when the situation requires, but, when it does not, she encourages her clients to consider the lower conflict options of “Amicable Divorce” and “Collaborative Practice.” She also regularly serves as a Guardian ad litem.
Georgia had over 6 years’ experience as a staff attorney inside Fulton County’s busy Family Court. In this position, she worked directly on hundreds of cases, handling problems arising out of a very wide variety of factual situations, triaging emergency petitions, and advising judges on complex procedural and factual issues.
Georgia realizes that issues crucial to her client's future happiness may be hanging in the balance. She keeps her clients informed and forthrightly acknowledges any uncertainties. She listens to her clients with care and treats them with dignity.
Georgia was born and raised in metro Atlanta. She played a key role in the creation of a City of Tucker park and greenspace. Georgia nominated 30 acres of untouched woods her family had owned since 1958 for use as a public green space. She and her husband had to overcome a series of obstacles to, first, convince DeKalb County it should acquire the property and then to persuade the County and he City of Tucker to make a permanent commitment that the property would be used as a park named in memory of Georgia's parents. The property is now a City of Tucker park, "Lord Park". Georgia looks forward to seeing the park become an increasingly valuable asset to the community, as appropriate amenities are added there.
Georgia can frequently be found performing in parades and community events with the whimsical Seed and Feed Marching Abominable band!
