Licensed since 2000, Denise started her successful family law practice in 2002. Since then she has assisted numerous clients navigate the emotional and technical landscape of family law including: divorce, complex asset issues and child custody disputes. Denise is often called upon by her colleagues to assist with challenging legal issues impacting all families and has argued cases before the Georgia appellate courts, including oral argument before the Georgia Supreme Court. She provides insight and advice on legislation impacting children and families.
Appointed in 2022, Denise serves as a part time Judge on the City of Decatur Municipal Court. Active in the legal community, Denise also serves on the State Bar of Georgia standing committee: Children and the Courts. She recently served as Co-Chair of the Atlanta Legal Aid Service Council which is comprised of 25 lawyers from the metro-Atlanta area. The Service Council focuses on creating pro bono service opportunities for young lawyers via Atlanta Legal Aid as well as spearheading fundraising efforts for the non-profit. Denise is also a Past President of the DeKalb Bar Association, Past Chair of the Board for the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and a founding chair of Family Law Section of the DeKalb Bar Association.
Denise is a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church where she served on the Administrative Board for three (3) years and recently finished her term as the Lay Leader for the congregation. Denise was recently elected to serve as an Associate Lay Leader for North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. When not working, Denise loves to explore and hike the trails and mountains of North Georgia and especially out in the PNW. Denise lives in downtown Decatur with her wife, Jessica, dog, Harper and cat, Eleanor.
