I am a trial lawyer who represents individuals who have suffered injuries or death because of the negligent acts or omissions of others. I pursue claims arising out of car accidents, truck accidents, and slip/trip and falls.
I was named as a Rising Star for 2013, 2014, and 2015 by Georgia SuperLawyers. I have been named as a Super Lawyer every year since 2016 by Georgia SuperLawyers. Only 2.5% of Georgia lawyers are chosen for this honor. I was also named as one of Georgia Trend Magazine's "2013 Legal Elite."
Before opening Horst | Shewmaker, I worked for the largest personal injury law firm in the world. Prior to that, I spent more than four years at a small personal injury firm representing injured individuals through trial. I also spent more than seven years with two large Atlanta firms defending insurance companies, trucking companies, and other corporations against personal injury and wrongful death claims. I have extensive experience in dealing with insurance companies and understanding how they work to prevent individuals from recovering compensation for legitimate injuries. My time spent defending these claims gave me a unique appreciation for how motor vehicle wrecks and other incidents impact individuals and their families, and helps me achieve the best result for my clients.
