About Alex
Biography
Attorney B. Alex Hyman completed his undergraduate education in his home state of South Carolina, graduating from the University of South Carolina in 2002. While at the University of South Carolina, he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity serving as the Secretary, Philanthropy Chair, and President. Additionally while in undergrad, Alex worked for Governor Jim Hodges as a staff intern.
After completing his undergraduate education, Alex began working for his father’s law firm as an appraisal analyst closely working with the South Carolina Department of Transportation in the litigation of condemnation proceedings. After working in this field for a year, Alex enrolled at the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. While in Little Rock, Alex worked in family mediation and also worked for the Pulaski County Public Defender. While with the Public Defender he was allowed to help litigate many high court criminal matters.
After completing law school, Alex began working for the Honorable Edward B. Cottingham, Circuit Court Judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit as a law clerk. After completing his clerkship, Alex began working for his father at the Law Office of Larry B. Hyman Jr. In 2008 Alex took over his father’s law practice in Conway, renaming it The Hyman Law Group, PA. Today Alex focuses on criminal and DUI defense while also practicing Real Estate and Personal Injury law in Horry County, South Carolina. Alex has handled cases all across the state of South Carolina in State and Federal Court. His passion for law is shown in his ability to lead in the courtroom.
Alex is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the South Carolina Association for Justice (formerly the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association) and the National College for DUI Defense. He is also a Professor at Horry Georgetown Technical College, where he teaches Criminal Law and has lectured multiple times at Coastal Carolina University. Alex is actively involved at Trinity United Methodist Church, and he serves on the board and has served as the chairman of the Conway Zoning Board of Appeals. He is a member of the Waccamaw Sertoma club where he has served as a board member and as its President. Alex is married to Tammi Hyman and they have two children. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and two dogs Judge and Belle.

Great Experience
Alex handled the real estate closing for my first home. The process was handled very well by Alex. During my closing, Alex explained the various documents to me and if I had a question, he was their to answer. I would reccomend Alex to anyone that is looking for legal services!
