Divorce and Separation 30%

Divorce is a life-altering event, regardless of the length of marriage or value of the marital estate. Emotions run high, and you need the objective perspective of an experienced family law attorney to guide you in making decisions during this difficult time. When the prospect of divorce seems overwhelming, trust that Julianne Stokes will guide you through the process with compassion and knowledge of South Carolina family law.

Child Custody 20%

If you are a parent, you will likely tell us that your children are your top priority, whether you are going through a divorce or are contemplating a change in custody action or a relocation case. We stand ready to mediate or litigate these issues, and our knowledge of the law will help shape your custody case so that we can ensure your children receive the best possible outcome.

20%
Family 20%

Much of our practice focuses on family law issues such as divorce, equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, alimony, time-sharing and support of children, drafting and enforcing prenuptial agreements, modification of alimony or child support payments, modification of custody, parental relocation cases, grandparent visitation, and third party adoptions.

20%
Mediation 20%

Mediation is one piece of “alternative dispute resolution” (methods of resolving your conflict outside of court). During a mediation, the parties negotiate to reach an agreement, while the mediator acts as a third party neutral to facilitate the process. Julianne Stokes is a certified family court mediator, and she can help you resolve your dispute(s) in an informal, comfortable setting. Mediation allows the parties to maintain control over the process while also saving time and money.

20%
Marriage and Prenuptials 10%

Before you get married, consult with an attorney to determine whether you may need a Prenuptial Agreement. So many of our divorce clients tell us they wish they knew the state of the law before they married. Many of the costly financial issues that arise in a divorce can be resolved through a well-written Prenuptial Agreement, so save yourself money and heartache by consulting with us several months prior to your wedding date.

friendly professionalism at its finest

I came to Julianne with limited knowledge on how the Family Court system works after having a less-than-stellar experience with another attorney. From the first email/phone call to the final hearing, I was comfortable, secure, and certain that she had the experience and knowledge to get me from poin...t A to point B. Every question was answered, no matter how insignificant, and always in a timely manner. She, and her staff, made sure that I was well aware of every step that was taken and that I understood every step along the way. I could not have asked for better representation.

Excellent representation and counsel

Julianne was tremendously helpful during my divorce litigation and helped achieve the result I was hoping for. Throughout the process she was accessible, knowledgeable, encouraging and responsive. I would definitely hire her again if needed!

Legal Advice with character and skill

Julianne Stokes was very knowledgeable about how to best handle different aspects of a separation agreement and a divorce but also had reliable recommendations of other professionals for further opinions in different fields. The way the entire process was handled on a business and personal level was... of the highest integrity and compassion.

Compassionate Professionalism

I was introduced to Julianne through a mutual friend, who thought I would benefit from her advice. My husband and I had been separated for a while and only needed to finalize our divorce. I went to Julianne for advice, but was given so much more! She and her staff were very compassionate and professi...onal and only seemed to want the best for me and my son. They informed me of the divorce process and offered advice on child support, child custody, and visitation. Words cannot express my gratitude. I am forever indebted to this firm and the services they provided for me. I could not have asked for a better experience!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
