Chris was not my initial choice to help answer a custody complaint served against me; although he should have been! After I started to feel uncertain about my current counsel, I called him to see if he’d be willing to take my case. He cleared up a lot of confusion from my last counsel and immediatel...y took me under his wing. While his course of action was not a popular one with other attorneys, he alone encouraged me to respond back, request dismissal of the complaint and claim that jurisdiction didn’t belong to NC. Nothing about my case had an easy answer as I lived multiple time zones away, and he was honest in giving me no promises to the outcome. I took a leap of faith with him while he rallied with his partners and committed to extensive research on the UCCJEA. Chris knew that time was of the essence with my case and he kept me as one of his top priority clients since day one! When I retained an additional attorney from outside the state, he stayed in lock step with him all the way until the conclusion of our UCCJEA hearing and seamlessly “handed off the baton“ once my case was dismissed in NC and moved to out of state. Chris really led me through what I felt looked like a truly bleak situation into believing that I actually stood a chance in this custody battle that crossed over state lines. Although my case went forward in another state and things were far from over, Chris played a substantial role in allowing me to be the mother with the ability and the right to be present in the everyday life of my little one. I met with Chris and he told me that he could help me , he told me that it would cost about 4k to do what i wanted in a civil case. I told him that it was very important that we act on this asap. A week after I gave him the money, he starts to tell me he is not sure if i have a case. Then I can not... get in touch with him for over 2 weeks. When i do, he says i still have a case but he needs to do more research, I told him if if he could not help me to send my money back. he assured me again he could help me. Then 2 weeks later i called him and asked him what he had done, He siad he had hired a new attorney and she would be heading up my case. He said that she would be in contact asap. Well two weeks later no call, no email all i kept getting was bill from them. I called after another 2 weeks and he said she would call me tomorrow. Well a week later she calls me and tells me i dont have a case. I then called Chris and asked him to send me back my money. He refused to take my calls or talk to me on the phone., He told me that he would not be sending my money back due to he had spent the retainer on research? That i would have to find another attorney to help me, that he was too busy ? So after close to 5 months, this guy says he spent all my money and did not do anything for me. I would highly suggest you do not do business with this guy.
