My focus is on family law matters. I have over 25 years of experience handling family law issues of every kind, complexity and nature. I am a zealous litigator when it becomes necessary. I take pride in being able to fight fiercely for my clients while providing them highly competent, compassionate representation.
My areas of practice include Child Custody, Financial Support, Equitable Distribution, Separation and Divorce, Alienation of Affection, Adoption and Termination of Parental Rights.
During my 25 years as a family law attorney, I have represented clients in cases ranging from multimillion dollar asset distribution to hotly contested custody matters. I enjoy having a reputation as one of the most aggressive and effective family law attorneys in Eastern North Carolina.
I have represented numerous clients in third party claims known as Alienation of Affection and Criminal Conversation actions. In July 2010, I obtained the second highest verdict at that time in North Carolina for an alienation of affection case in the amount of 5.9 million dollars.
In addition to my membership in numerous professional organizations, I am a supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project, Women Against Alzheimer's, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, The Humane Society of Eastern North Carolina and The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
When I am not in my office or in the courtroom, I enjoy gardening, traveling, fishing, skeet shooting, listening to music and spending time with my family and friends.

After the case is over
My case originally for separation has been done for a few years now and still having problems with the husband. I’ve tried 5 times to call Ms. Mills and even sent an e-mail to see if we could speak about the problem I am still having with the court order he has never done plus due to his girlfriend w...
I am deeply disappointed that this former client perceives my service to her in this way. I always work diligently to provide my clients with the best possible legal counsel and Ms. Gough was no exception. That said, my legal representation of Ms. Gough ended over two years ago – and with an unusually favorable settlement of her case. In recent months, she has called and emailed raising new issues about her marital circumstances. I have extended her courtesy legal advice via phone and email on numerous occasions, repeating that further legal action will require her signing a new retainer for my services. For whatever reason, she has failed to schedule an appointment to do so. Ms. Gough called me three times on the afternoon of Feb. 28 when I was out of the office for the afternoon. I returned her call at 7 AM the following morning, unaware that she had posted this negative review on AVVO. I again advised her about her legal options and the need for her to make an appointment with me. Again, she did not do so. In essence, Ms. Gough is not an active client of this firm and has not been an active client for some time. I understand the particular distress of those in the midst of unhappy marital situations who are frustrated with the legal avenues and options available to them. However, it is disheartening when those persons strike out unjustly by posting something like an unfair review on AVVO. As for Ms. Gough, I do wish the best for her and hope she reaches a satisfactory resolution of her marital issues.

Awful service. Once she got the money she requested could never get up with her. paid her $2500 to file a motion and she never did. don't recommend
Unfortunately, this review is vague and anonymous and allows me no way to determine if the situation is real. The description does not fit into how I practice since I give my clients my private cell phone number and answer it 24/7. Nonetheless, I’m sorry the reviewer is so unhappy and discontent for some reason. If this truly concerns my representation, then I invite the reviewer to contact me so I can address his or her concerns directly as I have always worked diligently to provide my clients with honest, efficient, highly effective legal assistance.

Awesome Attorney!!!!
I contacted Ms. Mills on very short notice and needed a custody action filed so I could serve it on my daughter's father while he was on leave from the military and coming to visit her. Ms. Mills not only drafted and filed the custody complaint in two days but she also went to her office on Sunday an...

Powerhouse Attorney
When I was going through a messy separation with my ex-husband, I would ask people who is the best attorney in Greenville. After asking this question to several different people, the one name that was mentioned the most was Cindy Mills. I made an appointment and met with Ms. Mills. During our con...
