Personal Philosophy:
My main service areasinclude bankruptcy (Chapter 7 only) and debt defense. I am interested inhelping those clients who are struggling with harassment by collectors, and whomay be unaware that they can possibly take advantage of North Carolina'sconsumer friendly laws and sue the creditor.
I also help people planfor unforeseen events in their lives, as well as end of life planning. I havevisited many folks in their homes or in hospice to record their final desiresfor distribution of their personal belongings, which gives them peace of mind.

Great advice in a time of need
Attorney Allen was very helpful in overnight advice on a debt collection matter I was facing. She was upfront and did not try to sell me on services I did not need. Rather, she took a few minutes out of her day of helping actual clients to get me on the road to resolving my issue. Hopefully, I’ll nev...

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2018.
Censure issued in NC, 2018
updated on 08/01/2018This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
“It is important that I let prospective clients know that this discipline did not originate with a client complaint. The North Carolina State Bar independently examined the structure and practices of a bankruptcy firm with which I, and a number of my bankruptcy colleagues, was associated, more than a year after I resigned from that firm. The Bar determined that the North Carolina bankruptcy practice of UpRight Law was outside of their guidelines, and issued discipline to all of us.”
