Very Thankful

Not many lawyers will take on a case after its been settled and there is an agreement in place. I needed to go back to adjust the amount, take off my oldest, and a couple of other things I don’t want to get into. Not only did I get every single thing I was wanting, not expecting, wanting, but we neve...r even had to go to court to do it. Richard is an exemplary lawyer. He is the only one I will ever use again as long as he’s practicing. Thank you again sir

A brilliant lawyer and a great man.

I worked with Richard primarily and was able to reach a very fair settlement on custody, child support, and equitable distribution as the defendant. Rosen has an absolutely amazing team all around. The whole team is wonderful to work with and I highly recommend them for all aspects of any divorce!

Family Law Case-Unethical, Poor Communication, Arrogant

I hired Richard Gantt for a high-conflict custody case, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Instead of representing me personally, I was passed off to another attorney on his team, Andrew LeLiever, for a temporary custody hearing. Not only did he fail to advocate for me, but... he also showed no care for my case. As a result, I was granted less visitation than the standard arrangement, and he didn’t seem prepared or transparent. All he offered was the vague assurance that I might have a better chance at more visitation during the permanent custody hearing. Throughout the case, I was given conflicting and misleading information, with little follow-through or concern for the important details I provided, particularly about the alienation of my children by their mother. As the permanent custody hearing approached, it became clear that the firm wasn’t committed to fighting for me. I felt like I was fighting a losing battle alone against a toxic ex, with little support from Richard or his team. Cory Lambert was assigned to help me later on, but he only further misled me into believing there was still a chance, which ultimately left me feeling even more isolated and frustrated. It was a complete waste of both time and money. In the end, I ended up making it easy for the court to grant my ex full custody, simply because I was worn down by the lack of real effort on their part. Furthermore, in my child support case, it was not this firm that helped reduce my payments to under $2,000. The reduction came after it was revealed that my ex's attorney and my ex-spouse had been providing fraudulent income information to artificially inflate the child support calculations. I’m grateful that the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) Agency got involved, and the amount was ultimately recalculated based on North Carolina’s child support guidelines. Even then, I had to advocate for myself to ensure they took into account the fact that I provide healthcare for the children, which further reduced the child support amount to something more reasonable. Unfortunately, I had to leave this firm because my last conversation with Richard Gantt was nothing but long-winded rambling. He was not up to speed on my case and gave me misleading information, which made me lose confidence in his representation. After realizing I was not getting the support I needed, I decided to terminate their services and quickly hired a different attorney. If you're considering this firm, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Richard Gantt came off as arrogant and indifferent to the details of my case, treating me like just another number. The money I spent on this firm was absolutely not worth it.

We are very sorry to hear that you feel this way. We always care deeply about your clients and their families and take pride in fighting aggressively for them. Unfortunately, we are not able to control the facts and circumstances that predate our representation and are not able to take every possible action when resources are limited. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We will definitely be reaching out to you to address your situation in greater detail.

Poor communication/ Very expensive

I met Mr Gantt to get a second opinion on my child custody case. I thought he would be aggressive and well matched against my ex-wife's attorney. He did explain my options and was willing to work on my case. However, at the end of the meeting, I asked what his fees were. He didn't say but promised to... email me a listing that day. I never received an email. The next day I asked his assistant to email me the info and she did. I discovered his fees excessive and unreasonable. He wanted $25,000 just to undertake the case, another $10k for alternative resolution disputes, another $10k for depositions, another $10k for a child custody evaluation, another $5k to talk to a parenting coordinator, another $8k for a temporary child support hearing, another $8k for a permanent child support hearing, another $10k for a child custody hearing, another $5k to talk to expert witnesses, then another $2,500 per pretrial motion. That's a total of $93,500 in fees and up.

This individual never hired me or my firm. He merely consulted with me when I previously worked at Rosen Law Firm prior to starting my own firm, and was upset with the flat-fee arrangement that Rosen charged. I no longer work there and I now bill by the hour. I’m able to complete the representation for many of my clients for no more than $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the situation. This man paid $250 for a one-hour consultation, which I conducted with him despite the fact that I had been sick in bed earlier that day. I came into the office because I was told he was driving in from Asheville and I didn’t want to leave him hanging, despite my sickness. After the consultation, I went back home, still sick, and got in bed. I told him that I would have a proposed client agreement emailed to him as soon as I could. But while I was as sick in bed, he called my office multiple times and began aggressively demanding a client agreement. The firm’s managing attorney got wind of this and decided the man was more trouble than he was worth and drafted and sent to him a client agreement that included significantly higher fees than the firm normally charges, in an effort to discourage him from retaining us. The agreement addressed all possible fees that might be incurred under any circumstance, most of which the typical client will never incur. An example is the fee for working with the parenting coordinator. Most cases do not involve a parenting coordinator. Additionally, most cases settle in mediation well before most trial and hearing fees are incurred. Rosen Law Firm is a flat-fee firm and, as such, spells out all possible fees in its client agreements, even though most of them will never come due. As I do with most clients and potential clients, I did my best to try to help this man. For the life of me I do not understand the personal hostility he seems to harbor for me. I take pride in the fact that all reviews here from people who actually hired me as their attorney are five-star reviews.
