John Naif Ellem

I have practiced law for nearly 28 years in both WV and Ohio.  More than 60% of my practice is devoted to various types of consumer litigation (lemon law, debt collection abuse, fraud and credit report errors, etc.) as well as personal injury and bankruptcy (we are a debt relief agency and help people file for relief under the bankruptcy code).  My website is and my blog is .   

I previously served 14 years (2001-2014) as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates representing the 10th District. During my career in the Legislature, I served as Minority Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and also served on the Constitutional Revisions and Natural Resources Committees. I was a member of the Legislature’s Joint Commission on Special Investigations and served on the House Committee on Redistricting. Prior to becoming a legislator, I served as a member of the WV Ethics Commission charged with administration and enforcement of the WV Ethics Act.

I am a member of the West Virginia and Ohio State Bar, the West Virginia Association for Justice,  the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. I currently serve as Vice-President of Human Rights for Kids and Vice-President of Project Yoga MOV, Inc.

Along with his wife Sherry and daughter Sara, I enjoy skiing, hiking and fly-fishing. I enjoy an active yoga practice and am a registered yoga teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance. I currently teach yoga at the Parkersburg Correctional Center in Parkersburg, WV and as a sub at various locations in the area and in Snowshoe, WV.
