Geneva was born and raised in Wyoming. Her first training was as a certified nurse’s assistant in home health and hospice. After college she worked in higher education – student affairs and admissions. Geneva’s work at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts brought her out to the east coast, and Virginia is now home.
Geneva served as a circuit court law clerk her first year after law school. In 2007 she began her work in private practice and from the very beginning her interest and expertise has been estate planning and probate and trust administration. “It’s very satisfying helping individuals and families plan for or live through life’s transitions. These are tender issues to be sure, but the appreciation is well worth it – I’m an attorney who gets hugs from clients!” She started Promise Law in September 2014.
When she is not busy with Promise Law, Geneva spends time visiting with her family, singing (anywhere it’s tolerated but usually in her church choir) and even trying her hand at improv and stand up.

Exceptional and thoughtful Attorney

Ms. Perry's immense knowledge, insightfulness, and commitment eliminated all of that stress. I had very specif...

"I have known Geneva as an attorney in the Hampton Roads area for more than 10 years and I am happy to endorse her to anyone."
"I first met Geneva when we represented opposing parties in an estate dispute. I was impressed with Geneva's down to earth approach to resolving complicated issues. Since then I have worked with her on other matters. Geneva's mastery of elder law and her passion for her clients makes her an excellent attorney. I endorse this lawyer."
"I have enjoyed practicing with Ms. Perry and have had several cases with her during our years of practice. She is very knowledgeable and professional. She is easy and pleasant with whom to work. I have no hesitation endorsing her for work in estate planning and administration areas, as well as guardianships and conservatorships."
"Geneva is a well-known and highly-sought estate planning attorney. I have personally worked next to her with clients on several matters and she has a wonderful demeanor, explains legal matters in easily understood terms, and always has the client's best interests at heart. She is an excellent choice for estate planning work."
"I first got to know Geneva after she agreed to let me shadow her so I could obtain a certification. I was extremely impressed with her diligence and knowledge of estate law and guardianships. I highly recommend her."
"Geneva is highly knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate. She is an excellent attorney and has the skills and disposition to provide her Elder Law and Estate Planning clients with the service they need. I would not hesitate to refer my family, friends, colleagues, and clients to her."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. In working on a monetary dispute among family members, Ms. Perry proved to be both knowledgable of the law and sensitive to the emotional implications of the transaction. In the end, she was the lead author in drafting a workable, long-term agreement among family members. She stuck with the problem until a mutually acceptable resolution was achieved. Ms. Perry is open-minded and willing to come up with creative solutions. She is a hard worker and flexible while continually mindful of her client's goals."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. I am an AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell, in practice for over 30 years. Geneva is one of the most impressive, thorough, professional and ethical attorneys that I have encountered in my career. She is a pleasure to work alongside, and always keeps her clients' best interests in the forefront."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. I have participated in two cases with Ms. Perry and in both she was diligent and professional. She represented her clients well."
