What a scammer

I hired him to work on a Request for Pardon. Was told 6 - 12 months max, Of course payment in full up front.... Almost 2 years later I find out he has lost his license and I have not a thing to show for it.

No longer has license-crook

Mr. Morris no longer has a license to practice law because he cheated so many people out of their money. We lost thousands of dollars to him for absolutely nothing.

Don’t Be Next!!

To begin, if I could give ZERO stars I would. To call Mr. Morris an outright fraud would be unfair, but I firmly believe that he has used his position to wrongfully and willingly take advantage of veterans. I hired Mr. Morris FIVE (5) years ago to assist with a BCMR petition. I have spent $6500 and c...ountless hours only to receive a badly edited, copy and pasted draft that couldn’t be turned in if I wanted it to. Unlike many of the reviews I have read, I have taken thoroughly notes of every email, phone call, appointment, cancelled appointment, and excuse this man has made. Even after losing contact (without notice) with Mr. Morris and his ever-changing staff for over TWO (2) years, and filing a complaint with the Virginia Bar, I continued working with him in hopes that he would do the right thing! In good faith, I paid for his services and even sent a message to the Bar (after he whined about how the complaint would adversely impact his career) letting them know that everything was OK; that couldn’t be furthest from the truth, and TWO (2) years later, here we are! PLEASE DO NOT BE THE NEXT VICTIM OF CARELESSNESS, UNPROFESSIONALISM, AND GREED! Believe the negative reviews you read because they are ABSOLUTELY the truth! I am in the process of doing all I can to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else so if you are looking for a lawyer that is going to help you fight for the benefits, entitlements, or justice you deserve, this isn’t the one!

Horribly disappointed

12 yrs ago I saved up 3500 dollars and sent it to Mr Rick Morris after he told me he could get my discharge from 1994 ammended/changed. I’m now 50 years old and throughout the years I’ve been led (by my own hope and stupidity) to believe he was doing what he promised, I’ll be 51 in March and it’s bee...n about 12 yrs of him dropping a call once a year and asking me the same questions like it’s about to be “filed” or go before a review board. If you are about to use him as a lawyer PLEASE think about it

Be aware!!!!

Paid him $2400 up front before he would even look at my case, was assured my case would be reviewed and handled in a timely manner and it’s been 9 months and have not heard a thing. I’ve had 7 conference calls throughout the months scheduled and not once has a he followed through. I call his offi...ce weekly to speak with him and of course, he’s never there. I wish I had shopped around before hiring. Be aware, they will talk up a big game and as soon as they get their money you will never hear from them again.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I endorse Rich Morris. I serve with Rick Morris in the Virginia General Assembly and on legal matters involving military law. I am Chairman of the House Courts of Justice (Judiciary Committee). Rick is my "go to" attorney when I need legal work done on important legal issues with serious consequences. In my private law practice, when I have a military client, I always refer them to Rick to work out the consequences that may result from a criminal charge."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
