Michael Andrew La Fratta

I was appointed Michael La Fratta as my attorney. From the beginning I was very impressed with his service and knew I was in good hands. He always made sure I knew the status of my case and encouraged me to continue doing well in my recovery. I was facing 3 felonies (2 possession charges and 1 posses...sion with a gun). I was so scared of what would happen to me if those charges turned to convictions. But Michael didn't back down. He wanted my case to have as little impact on my life as possible. Like so many, I did not know where to turn when seeking a family lawyer. Having never been in a situation that involved social services I was going down a list of google searches trying to find legal assistance. Some offices did not return my calls, one office outsourced my call to a help desk in Cal...ifornia who would determine if my case was worthwhile, and others would only assist if I paid over the phone first before telling me if they could even help. I left a voicemail with Mr. LaFratta's office and received a call later in the afternoon while at work so I was unable to take the call. I went on avvo looking for lawyers for my first ever offense in general court and I came across Michael. He answered my questions with a consultation and I hired him! Michael LaFratta is the most responsive attorney I have ever worked with and I highly recommend him if you're looking for a lawyer in the Richmond area. He was hired by my family to represent my son, who had a felony charge, which resulted form a short-term substance abuse problem he developed whil...e in college. Mr. LaFratta is honest and straightforward and really gives you an idea of what to expect. He did a great job of giving us the best and worst case scenarios so we knew exactly what might happen on court day. He also told us what he thought would be the most likely outcome, although he made it clear that the judge has the final say. He was highly responsive leading up to the court day via both email, text and phone. And he went out of his way to communicate with and even talk with the prosecutor in the Commonwealth Attorney's office in person to try to negotiate the best deal for my son. He was early on court day and met briefly with us prior to going in to court to make sure all bases were covered. He was great at every step of the process. I cannot stress enough what a difference to just know exactly what to expect and to be mentally prepared regardless of the outcome. In my son's case, the outcome was good. He was given the first-offender program and his case will be dismissed as long as he does everything right while on probation. For what Mr. Lafratta did, I deem his service to be very affordable. By the way, we initially had another attorney, which seemed to just want to settle for the status quo, which I found unacceptable when my son's future was at stake.
