I have many years of experience in representing businesses and individuals under Chapter 11. I also represent creditors and other parties in interest--such as asset purchasers--in Chapter 11 cases. Chapter 11 offers businesses and individuals an opportunity to reorganize their financial affairs. Chapter 11 may be used for individuals who are not eligible for Chapter 13 or require flexibility that is not available under Chapter 13. For Chapter 11 work, I charge an hourly rate.

I have many years of experience in representing individuals under Chapter 13. I also represent creditors in Chapter 13 cases. Chapter 13 may be used for purposes of curing mortgage arrearages, retaining assets that would be non-exempt under Chapter 7, paying taxes and other debts that would be non-dischargeable under Chapter 7, and controlling the sale of real estate that is listed for sale. For debtors, I typically handle cases for a flat fee.

EXCELLENT-HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Steve and his staff were excellent. In the most difficult situation he guided me through every step of the process. Steve handled a business case of mine and then a personal. He was able to help calm my stress over the whole process. He listened, showed compassion and walked me through the process al...l the way to the end (discharge). If you are considering filing, please look no further and choose Mr. Ramsdell. You will not be disappointed.

This is the lawyer to call. Look no further.

A lawyer friend recommended Steve Ramsdell as "the best bankruptcy lawyer in the region." We used his services twice: for business and personal reasons. He and his associate were responsive, patient, kind and professional. They answered all of our questions in a timely fashion, advised us of helpful ...steps to take in advance, and in the end Steve went above and beyond to get us an even better result than we could have wished for. A horrible burden has been lifted and we will be forever grateful to Steve and his team.

Steady Help In An Uncertain Time

From the beginning, Steve made me feel as if there was a light at the end of the tunnel and he could help get me there. We had a business that went under and had been served with some legal issues. I contacted several attorneys, some asked for up front fees to talk and some explained the process ov...er the phone. Steve took the time to speak with me at great lengths and then follow up with all the information we had discussed in a detailed email so that I had time to wrap my head around what was taking place. Everything that he had explained would happen did, and his advice and leadership allowed us to come out of our situation better then when we had entered it. He always returned emails and took the time to answer my many questions. His expertise and guidance was a significant advantage we had on our side to make sure that our families future was secured from the issues we were facing. His office always had time for me, and I felt at ease with his calm approach to something that for me was filled with uncertainty. I chose Steve because other attorneys told me the things I would lose while Steve took the time to find out the facts first before giving advice. I am thankful that I was able to find Steve and recommend anyone facing these tough situations to contact his office and listen to his advice.

Bankruptcy

I engaged Steve Ramsdell in the fall of 2017 to represent me in a bankruptcy situation. He was most knowledgeable of the bankruptcy laws, a true professional, responsive in all his dealings and extremely diligent in a sorting out the details of a complicated business problem involving multiple par...tners. The result was a discharge of the case. I would strongly recommend Steve and his most competent staff, to represent you. Jim

"Steve mentored me as I was a young bankruptcy attorney practicing in Virginia. In fact, it was at Steve's suggestion that I open my own practice when my wife and I decided to move to Texas. Without the invaluable experience I gained working with and for Steve, I do not believe I would have been in a position to do so. I value Steve's in-depth knowledge of all things bankruptcy and would recommend him to anyone."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
