Jason A. Weis is a Virginia family law and divorce attorney and a Northern Virginia native. He represents individuals and families in high-stakes, high-conflict domestic relations matters, with a practice centered in Fairfax County and Loudoun County and extending throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
His work concentrates on contested divorce, child custody and visitation, spousal and child support, and the equitable distribution of complex marital estates — particularly matters involving closely held businesses, executive and deferred compensation, real estate portfolios, federal and military benefits, and disputed income.
Before law school, Mr. Weis assisted in the resolution of federal tax disputes alongside judges of the United States Tax Court. He later purchased, operated, and sold a commercial entity and advised others on the same. That financial and commercial background, combined with an undergraduate education in philosophy and religion, shapes how he approaches a case: identifying the critical issues early and building a strategy and a narrative around them.
Mr. Weis has been named a Super Lawyer in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, and recognized by Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, Best Lawyers in America, U.S. News & World Report, the Washington Business Journal, and Ten Leaders in Matrimonial & Divorce Law in Northern Virginia. He holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
He teaches family law continuing legal education to Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. attorneys, frequently alongside sitting and retired judges, and has spoken to students at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. He has qualified and testified as an expert on Virginia family law in a foreign jurisdiction and in military tribunals.

"I endorse this lawyer. Jason and I worked for opposing clients in a very challenging child custody matter. He was well informed and skillful but also always reasonable. We were able to co-operate to find a solution which wold keep the clients' costs in check as much as possible. Not every Opposing Counsel is willing to do that but surely every (or almost every) client would want a lawyer who will do that."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. Jason was a true professional in a very difficult case. He represented his client effectively and yet remained pleasant to work with throughout the case. He is a dedicated family law attorney."
