Our daughter was charged in Prince William County with a narcotics offense that had the potential for a maximum forty year sentence. Her case was complex and involved sensitive issues. After deciding to accept the case, we followed a challenging and at times frustrating journey in the judicial system. Our daughter had a prior criminal history that created one of the challenges confronting Mr. Easley. At one point, we had to decide on a jury trial or a bench trial that allows the judge to make the final decision. There is a huge inconsistency in how judges sentence presenting a daunting task for any attorney. With all of the above, We are more than pleased with the end result as we know how damaging the results could have been. The Judge did exceed her guidelines but as I noted previously this is the inconsistency in the system beyond any attorney's control.
