About Karen

Biography

It's not hard to find a good family law attorney; it's hard to find one who is invested in helping you do what works for you and your family.

Your children are the single most important thing in your life. We help you make plans for them in their best interests.

Divorce is painful; working with a divorce attorney shouldn't be.

The best decisions are the ones you make yourself. Mediation and parent coordination are processes that let you do just that.

Karen was refreshing to work with!

After my first attorney failed at getting the parties together, Karen was able to quickly move things forward with common sense and no nonsense. Her understanding of what you are going through and how to minimize difficulty is not common.

Karen is a blessing.

I cannot thank Karen and her assistant enough for making a horrible time in my life as least painful as possible. What keeps standing out to me is that Karen never pushed me to decisions of which battles to pick within my divorce. She guided me and let me decide. I felt like we were a team. She was ...very thorough, responsive and present. I give her an outstanding not just excellent rating.

Who do you want to be there when things go wrong

It's a shame you couldn't canvass judges and child advocates, because anyone who has worked with Karen Robbins would have to say, honestly, that not only is she a damned good lawyer (knows her law) but she is a damned ethical and principled one at that. You may not think that matters, but judges kno...w who they can believe and who can be a mighty good actor who sees the justice system as a "game" and way to manipulate truth. Few divorces are straight-forward, even fewer are without extreme pain and destruction. There are many competent attorneys you'll find and they'll do a decent job. But you don't really know an attorney's ability, moral mettle, and how emotionally invested in your case they are until their abilities and stamina have been tested. Many attorneys will cry with you during the initial interview and promise you everything, then abandon you when your funds (or their patience) run out. Finding the right attorney is like trying to find the right doctor. Many look great when nothing goes wrong. But what happens when this becomes the "War of the Roses"? Will the attorneys escalate the war? Will they cave in to pressure? Karen Robbins was my attorney -- for YEARS -- because my ex ONLY wanted to fight and lived to fight. And he had no hesitation to use our children. I had no idea how far this hatred would go. Boy, did I ever need a very capable attorney. If you want "specifics," read on. My case is well-known as one of the most difficult in the area. I honestly don't know how Ms. Robbins managed to keep her professionalism, her time, her ear, and her heart so available despite the litigiousness, hostilty, and non-stop "scorch and burn" tactics of one opposing attorney after another, over an obscene number of years. The courts were virtually powerless to stop it. It was the full stated purpose of my ex to ruin my reputation, bankrupt me, "paper" me to death, and to psychologically as well as physically hurt our children since this was the best means to hurt me. Ms. Robbins had to endure personal attacks and numerous emotional phone calls -- sometimes several a day. She has always been available, yet also knew how to keep me focused so I wouldn't fulfill my ex's goal of running up excessive legal bills (and Ms. Robbins was VERY generous with her time, despite actually having other clients!) It's tough enough working with reasonable and ethical attorneys who are out to "win" for their clients. My ex -- also a lawyer -- hired numerous attorneys, each worse than the predecessor, all eventually getting burned out. Ms. Robbins never burned out, always kept her composure, and -- MOST of all -- ALWAYS kept the well-being of my children first. Her experience as a Guardian ad Litem/Best Interest Attorney was invaluable. I would also add that she not only has a brilliant head for law (high honors in law school, Phi Beta Kappa, etc.) but she is amazingly astute in her understanding of mental health issues that plagued this case. My ex could well have ruined me financially with legal bills in a fraction of the time and managed to drag out this process over many, many years. I don't know all of how she did it, but Ms. Robbins managed to keep her services affordable to me so that I could still get her help. Most attorneys would have gracefully -- and some not so graciously -- bailed out. I wouldn't have blamed her. I was certainly no "cash cow." But always I knew, and TRUSTED, that she would always fight for my children, do the right and ethical thing, tell me when I was wrong, and she would always be there for me and for my children. And for me, this was not a matter of faith. I've SEEN her tested, first hand. A+++++++!

Outstanding!

Karen Robbins and her very capable staff provided professional, timely and compassionate service to me and my daughter during a very difficult divorce. I came to know Ms. Robbins over six years ago. I was working as an administrator in a private school and Ms. Robbins was representing one of the ...student’s parents in a divorce and custody suit. Her professionalism, organization and compassion for all parties, adults and children, made such a positive impression on me that when I found myself in the sad situation of needing a divorce, I sought her out to help me navigate the confusing and emotional waters of dissolving my marriage. Ms. Robbins and her staff were very clear and professional at all times. I NEVER had any surprises or felt uniformed by her or her staff. My questions and concerns were always answered in a highly responsive and thoughtful manner. Throughout the entire process Ms. Robbins counseled me on choices and tradeoffs. Always with the intention of what was best for me and my daughter. Ms. Robbins is professional, capable, calm, and very smart. If you need her services, hire her- you will be glad you did.

Best choice I ever made

Ms. Robbins has been my attorney for more than 10 years and I still turn to her whenever I need help tweaking my family law needs. I first met her as a confused woman in need of divorce advice. She was kind, patient and spent much time counseling me about my options and rights. She shepherded me th...rough separation, divorce, spousal support, property division, division of retirement assets, child custody and child support issues. She also expertly handled messy protective order issues. I can honestly say she is responsible for me coming out of my divorce whole, happy and financially intact. Over the years she has successfully and smoothly helped me modify custody issues and child support as circumstances changed - most recently, 3 months ago. If in doubt I call her for advice and I find her and her staff helpful, knowledgeable and prompt in their handling of my issues. I never feel rushed or overcharged. The entire office operates with warmth and professionalism. I always feel at home and safe there. If she can't help with an issue, she knows someone who can. I have referred many people to Ms. Robbins over the years for family law help and will continue to highly recommend her.
