About Karen

Biography

It's not hard to find a good family law attorney; it's hard to find one who is invested in helping you do what works for you and your family.

Your children are the single most important thing in your life. We help you make plans for them in their best interests.

Divorce is painful; working with a divorce attorney shouldn't be.

The best decisions are the ones you make yourself. Mediation and parent coordination are processes that let you do just that.

Child Support Enforcement

I highly recommend Ms. Robbins. She was able to obtain enforcement of my child support order and obtain all the back support that was owed to me after my ex husband stopped paying. She did this in a highly professional manner and was cognizant of the fact that I was interested in resolving the iss...ue quickly and economically.

Best choice I ever made

Ms. Robbins has been my attorney for more than 10 years and I still turn to her whenever I need help tweaking my family law needs. I first met her as a confused woman in need of divorce advice. She was kind, patient and spent much time counseling me about my options and rights. She shepherded me th...rough separation, divorce, spousal support, property division, division of retirement assets, child custody and child support issues. She also expertly handled messy protective order issues. I can honestly say she is responsible for me coming out of my divorce whole, happy and financially intact. Over the years she has successfully and smoothly helped me modify custody issues and child support as circumstances changed - most recently, 3 months ago. If in doubt I call her for advice and I find her and her staff helpful, knowledgeable and prompt in their handling of my issues. I never feel rushed or overcharged. The entire office operates with warmth and professionalism. I always feel at home and safe there. If she can't help with an issue, she knows someone who can. I have referred many people to Ms. Robbins over the years for family law help and will continue to highly recommend her.

Hiring Ms. Robbins was a mistake.

I believe I would have done better with a different lawyer. Here is my story: I am the divorced father of three children. No longer happy with a 50/50 shared custody situation, my children ran away from their mother to live with me full time. My ex-wife refused to pay child support, so I needed a... court order and I needed it fast. Ms. Robbins claimed she knew how to handle what she called ‘high confrontation’ people like my ex-wife. What I didn’t realize was that her technique, apparently, was to give in to every one of my ex-wife’s demands. Ms. Robbins never met with me in person between hiring her and appearing in court. She never had a conversation with me about where to find leverage or how to apply it. She never had a follow-up conversation with me after court to go over what had happened and what to do next. It seemed to me that either she had taken sides with my ex-wife or she was stuck permanently in ‘devil’s advocate’ mode. She didn’t seem to care at all that I was in an extremely difficult situation for almost an entire year with three hungry teenagers and no child support. It put a huge amount of completely unnecessary stress on me. Even after numerous insults, delays and broken promises from my ex-wife, Ms. Robbins continued to give in to her demands. In the end, it took nearly a full year until I finally received the court order that I needed – however, it was bundled with a bunch of ridiculous and highly questionable conditions. Over the course of the shared custody case I used several lawyers and in my opinion, Ms. Robbins was far and away the worst lawyer I ever hired. Even after the case was over, she never checked with me to see if I had received the court-ordered child support but I did receive a bill for a process serving charge that she had forgotten from the previous year – how disorganized and unprofessional. Honestly, I have to give Karen Robbins a grade of “D minus” for the way she handled my case. My advice would be to keep looking.
