Biography
I retired from the United States Navy after twenty-one years of honorable service. I began attending law school shortly before I left the Navy, and began working as an Assistant State's Attorney in Baltimore City, where I prosecuted a wide range of criminal, DUI - DWI Drunk driving suspended/revoked and other traffic charges. I opened my own office in 1996 and began representing those charged with these serious matters.
When you retain the Law Office of Richard Kodzis, you are represented by me. I am your lawyer - I do not send a junior or less experience attorney in my place.
I have the experience and training to represent you competently and a reasonable cost. Many attorneys view DUI - DWI Drunk driving defense as a side or small portion of their service. Many, perhaps most, do not dedicate themselves to knowing how to competently represent the DUI - DWI drunk driving client. Many, perhaps most, do not invest the time or money to attend advanced training in DUI - DWI drunk driving defense. Consequently, they do not see weaknesses that are present in every case. They often encourage a client to (needlessly) plead guilty. They fail to see that DUI - DWI drunk driving cases, while difficult, can be defended. Indeed, in most cases there is little or no downside to pleading "not guilty" and making the State prove their case. They do not have the training or experience to see or understnd with confidence that police officers frequently make arrest decisions based upon poorly conducted investigations, that breath tests may not have followed been done according to required protocols, and may not be valid or accurate, and so forth.
