Marc and his staff are amazing, and if you're a tenant in a dispute, you should see if you can retain Marc's services. I say "should see if you can" because his firm is (at the time of this writing) swamped with clients. But if they can't take you on as a client, they may be able to advise you on key... issues in your case. I have had the privilege of using his firm's (D.C. Tenants' Rights Center) services for a number of different cases, in different venues including the Landlord and Tenant Branch, Office of Administrative Hearings, Civil (as follow ons to the Landlord and Tenant Case) and Housing Condition Calendar. In each case and in each venue, he and his staff brought a wealth of wisdom and experience. So read the other reviews to find out how awesome an attorney Marc is (and he is). I would like to say he is a remarkable human. Beyond being personable and kind, Marc has taken upon himself many sacrifices to ensure the success of his organization, the D.C. Tenants' Rights Center. Marc has created the Center for the purpose of helping Tenants who don't fall into the category of people who can obtain pro bono services, but don't have the money to obtain an attorney at the market rate. tl;dr version: Marc and his staff are awesome. Marc Borbely is an excellent and thorough attorney. We had many tenancy issues and he was able to get the resolution we wanted and for an extremely reasonable price. Throughout the process, he always answered calls and made sure all of our questions were answered and that we understood every aspect o...f the case. Marc Borbely is an excellent and conscientious lawyer. He did a great job giving legal advice about tenancy issues and addressing a myriad of legal questions. He came up with thoughtful approaches and obviously was familiar with several areas of landlord/tenant law. His rates are very fair and rea...sonable and he does not overcharge. He was careful about his billing practices and did not overstate the time he spent working on the matter. For many reasons, he is a rare find. We hope he continues to be devoted to tenants and those with limited funds, since affordable, committed and talented tenant-side lawyers area are very much needed in the DC metropolitan area.

I contacted Marc's firm through their online intake with a straightforward question, whether I could abandon my lease. I got a straightforward, plain-English, extremely helpful answer by phone, and was charged almost nothing, just for the time expended. I'm not sure where else you will find better ex...pertise at better prices. I think Marc and his firm do a great service to the community in providing affordable, excellent service. Could not recommend more highly.
