I CAN'T HELP YOU IF YOU DO NOT REACH OUT TO ME. THERE ARE PROBABLY A THOUSAND OTHER THINGS YOU WOULD RATHER BE DOING OTHER THAN SEARCHING FOR AN ATTORNEY.
Welcome to the law firm of Jonathan C. Noble. I am very sensitive to the fact that you may have a difficult legal problem to solve right now. Take your time before selecting anyone to represent you in any legal matter. The attorney whom you hire, and work closely with, can be one of the single most important factors in getting a good result in any legal matter. Do not be shy about inquiring about fees and costs or any other related topic when you meet with an attorney to discuss your case.
A NOTE ABOUT FEES IN FAMILY LAW MATTERS / REDUCING CLIENT STRESS
I am not a big advocate of the billable hour for many family law matters. The billable hour can create some lawyers to be inefficient in a system that is already over-burdened. I have had potential clients contact me looking to switch attorneys and hire me, because their relatively simple family law matters drag on, with no end in sight, while legal fees continue to pile up, and sometimes spiral out of control. In addition, it is also impossible for clients to really ever verify whether the lawyer spent the amount of "billable time" on any given family law matter. In case you are not aware, many law firms pay bonuses to their attorneys based, in part, on the hours they bill. This may create a conflict with an attorney being efficient, and results-driven vs. maximizing billable hours.
I believe that in a few simple (not all) family law matters, flat-fee arrangements can and do sometimes work better, and create less stress for the client, than the traditional billable hour. Generally, well-organized clients also help reduce the time it takes to resolve their issues. This can help reduce client stress, and help drive costs out of many family law matters. Clients who are informed, and goal-oriented usually come out ahead in high conflict divorce and child custody cases.
COMMUNICATION IS VERY IMPORTANT
Open attorney/client communication is one key element in getting a good result in most family law matters. I want my clients to contact me with important, relevant questions about their case, and to share information with me that will move their case forward. They should not worry about being billed for a simple answer, for sharing important information with me, or for getting a clarification on a point of law or procedure.
I typically ask clients to group their questions into one communication. This saves time and costs.
PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENTS / AGREED CHILD CUSTODY ORDERS / MARITAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENTS
After meeting with a client, I sometimes agree to handle certain family law matters on a limited basis. I also sometimes handle, on a limited or flat fee basis, the drafting, negotiation, and /or review of an agreed child custody order or marital settlement agreement to be submitted for court approval. Sometimes it is not possible to determine how a particular matter will progress, and in those cases, my services are billed based on time.
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
I have posted over 200 short, informative family law-related videos on my YouTube channel, Jonathan Noble Esquire. I have also appeared as a guest on other YouTube channels (some videos with over 100,000 views) to discuss family law and divorce issues. Do a search on YouTube to find my channel.
Also, take a few minutes and view the short videos I posted on my Avvo profile. I have also written some informative posts on driving costs out of family law matters, and other family law topics on my popular legal blog . Both will give you some insight into my philosophy regarding family law practice, and other relevant topics. MY FAMILY LAW PRACTICE AND MY APPROACH TO FAMILY LAW MATTERS
My practice is devoted to family law matters and family law-related appeals. I am based in southeastern PA (Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, Chester, and Delaware Counties), but I will also accept and consult on cases in the Lehigh Valley (Lehigh and Northampton Counties), and throughout Pennsylvania.
I take a client-centric, pragmatic approach to practice family law. I have been described as a relentless, detail-oriented, practical, ultra-determined, empathetic, creative, caring, knowledgeable, and zealous advocate. I have an extensive business background, including an MBA degree, which can help in navigating business and valuation-related issues in divorce.
One unique aspect of my law practice is that, unlike some other firms, I limit the number of family law cases I take, as to devote laser-like focus to all aspects of preparing for and engaging in discovery, settlement negotiations, mediation, binding arbitration, the collaborative divorce process, and/or litigation. I also evaluate, consult, and handle family law-related appeals in Pennsylvania.
An additional unique aspect of my family law practice is that I will not hand your matter off to an associate attorney. If we meet for an initial consultation and we decide to work together, I will be the attorney handling all aspects your case. Be sure you understand the significance of knowing who is actually handling your legal matter, and who you are hiring to work on your matter. There is no such thing as "combined legal experience" among a group of family law practitioners. You owe it to yourself to know exactly which attorney will be handling your case from day one to the conclusion of your case.
Quite often, the more issues that can be resolved without (costly and occasionally unpredictable) litigation, the better off you will be financially and emotionally. While I prepare every matter as if it will go to trial, most well prepared family law issues settle before going before a judge. You should be made aware of all the options available to you and the likely outcome of each based on your specific case. Most excellent family law attorneys will help educate you about your options every step of the way.
Without a doubt, in any family law matter, the lawyer you hire to represent you is one of the most important decisions you will make. Be sure you are 100% comfortable with your attorney before hiring him or her. It can be difficult, and costly to find yourself constrained to change family law attorneys in the middle of your case. I believe that you will not know if there is a good fit with an attorney, until you meet your attorney face-to-face or via Zoom, for an in-depth initial consultation.
Make sure the attorney you consult and hire clearly understands your goals and the specifics of your family law matter. You may consult as many attorneys as you wish prior to hiring one. I urge you to search vigorously and select wisely.
A NOTE ABOUT FILING AN APPEAL IN FAMILY LAW MATTERS
If you are seeking advice regarding filing an appeal in Pennsylvania, there is a STRICT 30 day window to file an appeal, or your rights may be lost. If your appeal is a child custody related appeal (also known in PA as a Children's Fast Track Appeal), there are other strict requirements that must be met within the 30 day period when filing a notice of appeal. Do not delay in taking appropriate action on appeal, or your rights on appeal may be forever lost.
Stay informed. Get educated. Every family law matter is different. Nothing can replace consulting with a family law attorney to discuss the specifics of your family law matter.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO THOSE WHO WANT ME TO HANDLE THEIR DUI CASE.
Some people contact me because they know about my scientific background in gas chromatography (how Blood Alcohol Content is often measured), or they heard about the results I obtained for one client who was arrested and charged with three separate highest rate DUI charges (BAC .16+) during a four month period. Case one: Not Guilty Verdict. Case Two: DUI charges dismissed before trial. Case Three: No loss of driving privileges.
You should know that no two DUI cases are exactly alike. Each case must be evaluated on it's own set of facts and the applicable law.
If you have been referred to me to handle your DUI case, please call my office immediately at to schedule an initial strategy session to determine if I will accept your case. I normally only accept difficult / complex / unique DUI cases in addition to my busy family law practice.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME
Feel free to send me an e-mail at if you would like to set up an initial consultation. I may also be reached at. BECAUSE OF THE DEMAND FOR MY TIME, I CHARGE A FEE FOR AN INITIAL CONSULTATION. Please feel free to email me to set up a video call or telephone consultation.
Thank you again for reading my short Avvo profile. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss how I may be of assistance.
