Practice area

My practice has been focused solely on family law since 1999. I am experienced in all areas of family law, including equitable distribution, alimony, alimony pendente lite, spousal support, child support, custody and abuse matters.

I entered the practice of family law knowing that my clients were often going through the most difficult experience of their lives. Although it is often difficult work, I find great reward in helping a client navigate from a place of loss and confusion to a place where they can start to build a new future. To do so, I work closely with my clients to understand their situation and goals. For me, there is no “one size fits all” approach to family law. I help clients identify the best path towards resolution of their matter in a cost-effective way.

I have handled a wide variety of family law cases, including complex custody matters and high net worth / high asset am both an experienced litigator and negotiator, and I enjoy collaborating with clients to determine the most efficient means of resolution for their family law matter. When an amicable resolution of a matter is desired and practical, I work with my clients throughout the negotiation process. However, when settlement is not possible, I have the expertise and skills needed to aggressively seek resolution through the courts.

Christina got it done! Very thorough and knowledgeable throughout the divorce process
Christina and her team were very professional. I was already in the middle of a divorce where I felt my current representation wasn’t doing its job. I then decided to switch per a friend to Christina and she took care of my needs. I would use her again in the future.

Efficient and communicative. No BS. Professional. Doesn’t get into marital gossip or create issues that don’t exist just to generate billable. Stays focused. I am an attorney so I believe my opinion carries more weight than a lay person. If she says she is going to do something, she does it, and timely. No five year divorce nonsense. Her assistant Lindsey is excellent as well.

Knowledgeable and Effective
Anyone facing a divorce should consult and hire counsel that will pursue a client’s best interest- someone who can call attention to the ways you may be financially and legally vulnerable to the opposing party. I did not think I would come out of my divorce without significant financial loss, but here I am, moving on with my life with the stability to pick up the pieces and begin anew. Choosing Christina to represent me during this difficult time was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I would recommend her to anyone for her knowledge of family law, responsiveness and attention to the smallest detail.

Excellent family attorney!
Christina has been my attorney for many years now, initially helping me with child custody and lately to close out a support case that had expired, out of court. She is efficient, effective & works with you by providing the best solutions possible. Thank you Christina!

Christina Gets Results!
In the winter of 2013, I retained Christina DeMatteo in Custody of my infant child. From the initial meeting, Christina set a collaborative tone and I felt she was dedicated to representing me and my child’s best interest. Her team of professionals impressed me most with their depth of knowledge, breadth of legal expertise, resourcefulness and acute attention to detail dedicated to what was an extremely personal and emotionally challenging experience for me and my family. Christina’s experience in the family court system; expert knowledge of the law; and ability to connect with the deeply personal and emotional element unique to family law is what sets her apart from any person I’ve had the honor of knowing. She is excellent counsel because of her knowledge and understanding of legal issues and ability to communicate them in commonplace terms; skillful, resilient and effective negotiation strategies out of court; and smart, powerful and influential litigation techniques in court. She has a highly intuitive and confident presence about herself; and that presence constantly inspired me to do what was necessary to prevail. Christina gets results and I would recommend her with the highest degree of confidence for future representation and/or for representation of friends and loved ones. Sincerely, A grateful, loving and devoted parent

She DOES NOT HAVE TIME FOR YOU
I was a loyal client of Christina Dematteo. In fact, I referred her several friends as well. Unfortunately, the quality of the representation appears to have depreciated over the last few years. For example, before an important hearing at 9am (which the noticed requested we arrive 15 minutes prior), Christina did not attempt to prep me until 20 minutes beforehand the same day. When I missed her last-minute call, she then told me (in our breakout session DURING the hearing, that "I wasn't saving myself money by communicating via email instead." As a licensed attorney myself, I found This was insanely rude and unbecoming of a professional. Especially given I had never complained about her costs once. I missed the very last-minute call because I was already logged into the meeting and was in the zoom's waiting room. In discussions prior to this event, she would often forget important facts about my case that we had previously discussed. This would needlessly extend the length of our calls as she would pull up my file....remind herself as best could to get up to speed. Instead of politely apologizing to a paying customer in these instances and moving on with productive conversation, Christina reminded me several times of her very very high caseload and that I am "not her only client"...... She is not the same lawyer who paid attention to detail as she used to be. If you want quality representation and someone who CARES about you and your case... If you are even slightly emotional about your case... Do not hire this lawyer.
