Mr. Gerhard called me promptly and gave me good advice about my problem with a burial fund. I am following his kind advice.

Back in 2004, my parents were in need of some estate planning guidance, and I found Bob through a web search. I don't know what we would have done without Bob throughout these years. He was kind and generous and went above & beyond our expectations. He and his staff were always just a phone call or email away, and the sometimes complex information they provided was always presented in a way that was easy to understand. Bob was an excellent listener and picked up on underlying issues that I may not have been able to express clearly. His advice was always tailored to where we were at, with a look to the future. His knowledge of the law and eldercare was second to none, but he was always ready to suggest another professional if the advice needed was not his expertise. I would highly recommend him for any of your legal needs.

This review is long overdue. In September 2012 my mother suffered a severe stroke and entered a nursing home in Montgomery County. At the same time my father entered the same facility in assisted living. The monthly cost for both was $15,000. Their assets, including their unsold home would have supported that level of expense for just 2 years.
In early 2013 my father's family lawyer referred us to Bob Gerhard to assist in compiling and filing my mother's application for PA State LTC assistance. Bob and his assistant helped to obtain all the necessary financial account documents for my parents' accounts over the previous 5 years which needed to be submitted with the application, a task that would have been impossible for me to undertake alone. Bob also helped to put together a financial plan that preserved as much of my parents' assets as possible for my father's use, who would continue living in the assisted living facility with considerable monthly expense. Through an innovative idea to create a dedicated Trust for my father's medical needs, all his assisted living expenses would be taken care of for the next 5+ years. Bob had the State review the language of the Trust Agreement to ensure their written acknowledgement it would not negatively effect my mother's eligibility for State LTC benefits. Bob also ensured that 2 loans I had made to my parents a decade prior were acknowledged by the State in writing and fully paid back with some of the proceeds from the sale of my parents' home.
Unfortunately my father passed away a year later. I engaged Bob once again to handle settling my father's Estate and take care of all the implications his Estate had with respect to my mother's eligibility for State LTC benefits.
I honestly can't say enough good things about Bob as an Elder Care and Estate Planning lawyer. He took a very stressful, complicated situation and with his knowledge, extensive contacts, diligence and compassion, presented my parents and I with the most positive outcome we could have imagined. While my father was still alive, his financial and care needs were met, my mother's financial and care needs continue to be met and I received repayment of all loans I had made to my parents prior to the LTC benefit filing with the State. And that's all because of Bob.
Bob's fees were very reasonable and transparent from the first day I met with him. He always responded promptly to any question or information
need that I had.
I highly recommend him.

Bob quickly responded to my questions, is clearly an expert in the field, was generous with his time, and referred me to another elder law attorney closer to my home - clearly was not looking to keep the fees for himself. I appreciate his professionalism and courtesy and his reputation is well earned.

Very few lawyers are accredited by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as eldercare lawyers, yet they claim they are experts in this area. This includes wealth management professionals as well as estate attorneys. However, they have not acquired the accreditation available to those practicing eldercare advice and/or law. Unfortunately, the public is not generally aware of this. Robert Gerhard, III has this credential. This means that he is certified by the National Elder Law Foundation so that he is authorized by the Supreme Court to use the title of Eldercare Attorney. Furthermore, he has written an excellent book on the subject, Pennsylvania Medicaid Long Term Care. Because of this expertise, he proved to be invaluable in advising me about my brother who had to receive long term care and Medicaid assistance. He saved us a great deal of time and money so that my sister--in-law could continue to live with financial independence and dignity

Bob handled the medicaid applications for my parents during a very difficult time of transitioning them to a nursing facility. By turning this process over to Bob, I was able to devout time and emotional support to them, and my own family as well, and regain some energy from the long road working up to this point. He was very attentive to the details, followed up with me throughout each step of the application process and was considerate to the very end.

I was directed to Mr. Gerhard by an attorney who knew he would be a better resource for my concerns. Upon our first meeting, my Mom and I were immediately set at ease by his patient and kind demeanor. He listened to our situation, and offered various options; explaining these options in layman's terms, and went out of his way to cover all bases.
Our situation required a big decision, and I am 100% confident with his advice, expertise, and process for moving forward. After our meeting, I already felt great comfort knowing he was on our side, but he went a step further by taking the time to follow up with my Mom and I, and offered even more advice. A year went by when I revisited some questions I still had; he remembered us and our story and quickly picked up where we left off. It’s clear Mr. Gerhard dedicates himself to his clients.
A true expert in his field, Mr. Gerhard is the epitome of professional, I wouldn’t consider working with anyone else, and am very grateful he was referred to me.
His extensive knowledge and compassion has been instrumental in helping us work through a challenging time.

When I went to see Bob Gerhard III, he and his staff were very friendly, put me at ease immediately. Bob explained what he could try to do for me in words I could understand. At every step he kept me informed. We had many e-mail and phone conversations when I had questions or he wanted to explain or ask me to send something to him. He always answered my call or e-mail very quickly. Even though the case is now very satisfactorily closed, I can call or e-mail him and he will answer. I couldn't ask for someone who was kinder, more helpful or more knowledgeable about the legal situation.

We really made a huge decision to trust your abilities and that decision paid off for us in a big way. I would like to help other families, like ours, engage your services. I think one area that should be heavily weighted is your rapport with the County court. That segment of our relationship was extremely impressive. Considering the judge had signed off on your prepared papers before he even met with us. These are the things that families, like ours, need to know. When money is tight, decisions on legal representation are important. I think your office represents money well spent.

My family was referred to Robert Gerhard III during a troubling time and he made the process as easy as possible in terms of organizing our finances and preparing for long term care for a loved one. This was especially crucial during a time in which a family member's health was in flux and action was needed quickly. We never had trouble reaching Mr. Gerhard with questions and he provided regular updates and greatly reduced stress by making the process as smooth as possible. He was also helpful with ideas & referrals for just about anything. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs help with estate planning / elder law.
