Very responsive, professional

Bob quickly responded to my questions, is clearly an expert in the field, was generous with his time, and referred me to another elder law attorney closer to my home - clearly was not looking to keep the fees for himself. I appreciate his professionalism and courtesy and his reputation is well earne...d.

One of few attorneys certified by PA Supreme Court as Eldercare Lawyer

Very few lawyers are accredited by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as eldercare lawyers, yet they claim they are experts in this area. This includes wealth management professionals as well as estate attorneys. However, they have not acquired the accreditation available to those practicing eldercare a...dvice and/or law. Unfortunately, the public is not generally aware of this. Robert Gerhard, III  has this credential. This means that he is certified by the National Elder Law Foundation so that he is authorized by the Supreme Court to use the title of Eldercare Attorney. Furthermore, he has written an excellent book on the subject, Pennsylvania Medicaid Long Term Care. Because of this expertise, he proved to be invaluable in advising me about my brother who had to receive long term care and Medicaid assistance. He saved us a great deal of time and money so that my sister--in-law could continue to live with financial independence and dignity

Compassionate and attentive

Bob handled the medicaid applications for my parents during a very difficult time of transitioning them to a nursing facility. By turning this process over to Bob, I was able to devout time and emotional support to them, and my own family as well, and regain some energy from the long road working up... to this point. He was very attentive to the details, followed up with me throughout each step of the application process and was considerate to the very end.

Wonderful Attorney!!

I was directed to Mr. Gerhard by an attorney who knew he would be a better resource for my concerns. Upon our first meeting, my Mom and I were immediately set at ease by his patient and kind demeanor. He listened to our situation, and offered various options; explaining these options in layman's te...rms, and went out of his way to cover all bases. Our situation required a big decision, and I am 100% confident with his advice, expertise, and process for moving forward. After our meeting, I already felt great comfort knowing he was on our side, but he went a step further by taking the time to follow up with my Mom and I, and offered even more advice. A year went by when I revisited some questions I still had; he remembered us and our story and quickly picked up where we left off. It’s clear Mr. Gerhard dedicates himself to his clients. A true expert in his field, Mr. Gerhard is the epitome of professional, I wouldn’t consider working with anyone else, and am very grateful he was referred to me. His extensive knowledge and compassion has been instrumental in helping us work through a challenging time.

A Wonderful, Helpful, Trustworthy Lawyer

When I went to see Bob Gerhard III, he and his staff were very friendly, put me at ease immediately. Bob explained what he could try to do for me in words I could understand. At every step he kept me informed. We had many e-mail and phone conversations when I had questions or he wanted to explain ...or ask me to send something to him. He always answered my call or e-mail very quickly. Even though the case is now very satisfactorily closed, I can call or e-mail him and he will answer. I couldn't ask for someone who was kinder, more helpful or more knowledgeable about the legal situation.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
