Highly Recommend

We had a fantastic experience with Bob and his office. He helped us get through the state Medicaid requirements for a relative admitted to a nursing home and worked with him for over a year to complete this. He offered expert advice to us, kept us up to date on any recent changes in and interpretat...ions of the law and made the filing requirements an easy process. He also has a good network of professionals that he referred us to on peripheral issues related to our case. He billed us fairly with no unexpected or hidden charges - everything was transparent from day 1. We found Bob to be honest and extremely easy to work with - and a genuinely nice, down to earth person as well, which makes a big difference.. We have already recommended him to friends in the same situation and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone is search of an elder care lawyer.

Extraordinary Guidance and Counsel

My family and I had a complicated situation in organizing the affairs of aging parents, and in particular, one parent with advanced Alzheimer's. Mr Gerhard helped us wade through a number of options and ultimately assisted us to organize the Family Trust in a manageable manner for our Mother, and put... us on a path to ensure that financial, healthcare, and probate issues were in hand well before they could become a problem. Bob has a great ability to take complicated legal considerations and present them in a very understandable manner. He has a very kind and gentle manner in dealing with issues of family. His counsel, knowledge and very helpful hands-on approach were greatly appreciated.

Special Needs Trust Fund and Guardianship Work

We found Bob extremely knowledgeable PLUS he had an excellent way of making legal concepts accessible for us to understand. He always was quick to respond to our questions. Even more importantly, he was caring, patient and sensitive to our needs and concerns throughout the entire process of taking ...us through everything from start to finish. This was important to us since our legal work involved issues pertaining to our disabled child.

"THIS WAS MY LUCKY DAY"

A few years ago, I searched the Web to find a lawyer with expertise covering Pennsylvania Medicaid Regulations and Elder Law. When I Googled "Books on Pennsylvania Medicaid Law", up popped the 2009 Edition of "Pennsylvania Medicaid, Long Term Care", authored by Certified Elder Law Attorney, Robert C.... Gerhard III. "THIS WAS MY LUCKY DAY". Both criteria were met, namely Attorney expertise in Pennsylvania Medicaid and Elder Law.. Checked the home page of the Gerhard & Gerhard Web Site and learned Mr. Robert Gerhard III was honored by his peers in both 'Philadelphia Magazine' and 'Pennsylvania Lawyer" as a "Super Lawyer" in 2006 and 2007 (more recently in 2008 thru 2011) in the field of Elder Law. An overview of the Testimonials Web Page cited many satisfied clients serviced by Mr. Gerhard who achieved positive outcomes in a variety of challenging situations. These events solidified my decision to engage his legal talents. The first visit to Mr. Gerhard's office was a pleasant experience. Estate Planning was the Central Theme as we touched on Medicaid/Medicare, Long Term Care, Wills, P/A's, Advanced Directives and Trusts. The objective was to construct a Flexible Estate Package incorporating into each document the appropriate legal structure to protect assets during my lifetime and assure a smooth and orderly transition to heirs. At this juncture, I felt right at home and comfortable exchanging ideas with Bob. He answered questions in a friendly, clear and concise manner while offering a wealth of creative suggestions to strengthen and enhance the language of all documents. Bob is a good listener and always patient. On my next visit each document was reviewed in its' entirety. Bob gave the opportunity to ask for clarification of any words, sentences or paragraphs that were not clear to me. Believe Me! I had many questions and all were answered with patience and thoroughness to my satisfaction. There were so many items resolved of which I was not aware. Never once, was Bob impatient but always cooperative. The same was true of his office staff that also mirrored these fine qualities. Words cannot express my sincere appreciation to Bob Gerhard III for the impeccable quality of my Estate Plan, thanks to his Professionalism and Knowledge of Elder Law. I would not hesitate to recommend his talents as a "Super Attorney in Elder Law" to my circle of friends and colleagues.

The best lawyer that I ever met!!!

I can't recommed Bob highly enough. He is a wonderful lawyer! He protected considerable assets for me. My husband was hospitalized 6 months ago with blood clots in his lungs. He remained hospitalized for a week and then he was sent to a nursing home. He was sent to the nursing home without my c...onsent. After a month in the nursing home I was told to come pick him up as the insurance company stopped paying for his care. What an unbelievably stressful time! I would come home from work and I was afraid to look at the mail because of all the bills that kept coming in. Bob was so caring and concerned during this time. He advised me what to do about everything. He kept me informed every step of the way and he was always available to speak to me. He got me through one of the worst times of my life. He was adept at dealing with many difficult people while continuing to maintain his calm, professional demeanor. He continued to fight for me whereas others would have given up. He filed appeals when he was told no. In the end, he was successful. Today, I got the news that he won the Medicaid appeal. I thought that I had a pretty good understanding of elder law. How wrong I was! He is one of the best elder lawyers in the state, if not the best. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
