Anita is passionate about the commitment to good health care and a zealous advocate for her clients-her people. To see Anita in person and to learn about nursing home abuse and nursing home neglect, please see her online video FAQs.
Anita brings to Lowenthal & Abrams both law and nursing degrees, which assist her in representing clients who are victims of medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, or nursing home abuse. As a registered nurse, Anita is in the unique position to be able to assess cases both medically and legally, meaning that she can more quickly determine whether it is appropriate for a case to move forward for litigation. Anita has litigated or settled cases for amounts in excess of 5 million dollars.
As a nurse, Anita cared for critically ill patients in an intensive/coronary care unit and also cared for patients of all ages, from the newborn to the elderly, in a general practitioner’s office, which gave her broad experience in many areas of medicine. Additionally, she ran her own diagnostic imaging company, which provided high quality ultrasounds, echo-cardiograms, obstetrical ultrasounds and vascular ultrasounds.
Well–respected amongst her colleagues, Anita is a frequent speaker and author on subjects such as nursing and the law, nursing home litigation, damages for the elderly client, and medical malpractice cases. In 2011, Anita was recognized as a “Rising Star Super Lawyer” by Philadelphia Magazine. Anita was also named to “Top Lawyers 2012″ by Main Line Today magazine.
As a nurse and attorney, Anita feels strongly about making certain that people receive appropriate medical care as shown by her role on the Board of Directors of Project Helping Hands. Project Helping Hands is a program dedicated to providing health and medical intervention programs for those lacking access.
Anita obtained her Law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 2001, her Bachelor degree in Nursing from Desales University in 1998, and her Diploma in Nursing, along with a Certification in Intensive Care and Coronary Care, from St. Josephs’ Hospital and School of Nursing in 1977. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
