Ineffective Assistance

I hired Mark in 2015 for a custody case in Franklin county. The issue was very minor and could be called a nuisance. Mark received over 20 single-spaced pages of very disturbing information – all quite true – about my ex. He refused to use any of it. Visibly trembling before my ex-wife's ...attorney, he spent 40 minutes of the court's time fighting over whether or not any changes to visitation needed to be done in writing or over the phone. This was not an issue for either of us. I contemplated standing up and firing him on the spot, but thought that would make me look unstable. The case lasted almost two hours, and nothing of substance was said or done. Only minor issues were discussed. I was enraged, but kept my cool. I wanted to apologize to the court for wasting its time. In retrospect, I was wrong to be silent and not stand up. I could've done it in a respectful but firm way. While non-confrontational with the opposition, he was short, harsh and dismissive with me. Mark is not a bad man or even a bad lawyer, but he's best suited for probate or real estate law, not life-altering battles that affect the lives of whole families and children. This cost me roughly $1000.

I retained Mark's services on several occasions. On each occasion, he was fair, honest and provided me with excellent representation. On one occasion, against his advice, I filed an appeal in a DPW case in which he advised me that he has never seen a reversal in the original decision. In this inst...ance, he did. I feel this was in large part due to his representation. I have recommended him to friends looking for a lawyer and I will continue to do so. He has made himself available to me when I had questions about other issues in which I thought I might require legal counsel and has even advised against it stating it would not be in my best interest rather than charging me unnecessary fees. He definitely has proven to be a person of integrity on multiple occasions and for that I am grateful. I hope never to need his services again, but should I require legal counsel, he is the first person I would call.

Verdict of A+ For Attorney Bayley

I have engaged Attorney Bayley as my lawyer for years. He is and has always been easy to work with and very responsive. Mark has always fought hard to find an outcome that is agreeable and more times than not, favorable. He updates me as appropriate and puts the time and effort to into my file to ...get the job done, and done right!

In my experience, Mark is very level-headed, and will argue with firm conviction on behalf of his client. I have referred persons to Atty. Bayley for cases in a local county in which I do not practice."
