Biography
William Mattar is the founder of William Mattar, New York State’s largest motor vehicle accident law firm. Inspired at a young age by his father, a lawyer in Western New York, William Mattar grew up watching firsthand how legal advocacy could help people through difficult times. That early exposure shaped his decision to pursue a career in law with a focus on helping others.
William Mattar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1986 and received his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 1988. After gaining experience at another law firm, he founded William Mattar in 1990 in Williamsville, New York.
While the firm initially handled a variety of legal matters, William Mattar now focuses exclusively on motor vehicle accident injury cases, including car, truck, motorcycle, and rideshare accidents. With more than 35 years of experience, he has helped build a firm that has represented tens of thousands of people injured in motor vehicle accidents across New York State. Today, the firm serves clients statewide with offices in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany.
In addition to his legal practice, William Mattar is deeply committed to community service. He is an Eagle Scout and has long been involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Greater Niagara Frontier Council. Since 2002, he has served as chairman of the organization’s annual dinner, helping raise funds that support programs benefiting more than 10,000 children. He is also active in his church and has held leadership roles in numerous civic and charitable organizations.
Outside of work, William Mattar enjoys spending time with his wife and children, cooking, hiking, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America alongside his sons, who have also earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Replied last August 06, 2013Lynn, Thank you for your input! We are always working to better our client’s experience. We do have a fairly unique phone call system that allows a client’s call to automatically be connected to the person that can help him within our firm without the need to speak to a receptionist or listen to phone menus. Our system is designed with the hope that your question could be answered before you get off your phone. I have always thought that speaking with a person instead of having voice mail was better. However, based on your thoughtful comment I will explore your suggestion of using voice mail in some forms as we move forward. Again, thank you for your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

As your case was coming to a close, your attorney told you he was leaving the firm to pursue another opportunity. You chose to stay with our firm. We then assigned a very experienced trial attorney to your team. We reviewed the options of where your case stood to guide you to resolution. This was not an example of being outmaneuvered by the defense. Please recall the liability issues and policy limitations that were faced with regards to the driver of the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle, which were unfortunate obstacles in the eyes of the judge. We included you in the negotiations and you actively participated as we explained each step and where things stood. Every case is unique and we work to obtain the best results based on all elements at play. Even though we examine every aspect of the case, including the value of the insured party's policy, permanent injuries and fighting insurance, million dollar verdicts are not the norm. We are sympathetic to the pain you have suffered, and wish you the very best moving forward.

They did not win, but charged fees! . Unprofessional. Rude.
So, I hired this law firm, for a simple rear-end collision. After two different lawyers, my case was dropped. I settled the case pro-se. Replied last May 30, 2023Your original reference is an issue from 2012. While working with our team, you incurred fees from your own actions to apply for funding. There is no false advertising: we advertise no attorney fee unless you win, and no attorney fee was charged to you. We have documentation of your continued threats, harassment, and refusal to work with our team after we were able to obtain a settlement amount and even had a lien against you removed. We know it can be frustrating to have legal issues, but we must ask that you not take your situation out on our team. We realize your verbal attack is coming from a place of frustration when you did not get what you wanted from us. In need of more legal services, you stated you were 'giving us a chance to redeem ourselves'. Upon our rejecting your new case, you became confrontational and verbally abusive to our team once again. Our Attorney Manager then explained how we were not able to take your new case, but that we do wish you well and hope you can ultimately get your legal issues resolved. Our team is not rude, merely trying to explain something that you do not want to hear. Clearly, when you do not get your way, you keep taking to social media in an attempt to discredit us.
