Good attorney , overbills clients

Brian is short tempered, and unfriendly. He has an old style approach that everything must go to trial. While he is good, he seems as if he can’t negotiate, it’s always worst case scenario. He gives quotes and while I expect him to sometimes go over them. He bills excessively and at one point charged... interest on my statements. He really doesn’t care about his clients. All about billing. I do have to say he is a worker.

Without knowing who this client is, I cannot address his/her personal experience as described above. I can speak generally, however, and will start by saying that the client's perception that I cannot negotiate, so all cases must go to trial, is mistaken. The vast majority of matters our office handles are settled to our clients' satisfaction. The only cases which do go to trial are those where a satisfactory settlement cannot be achieved, which can occur for a number of reasons - the most common being where a party makes excessive settlement demands, and the opposing party chooses to let a judge decide the matter rather than giving in to those demands. Regarding the "worst case scenario" comment, we always present our clients with an honest and realistic assessment of their case. That means explaining both the best and worst outcomes, and the likelihood of where a client's case would fall between the two. Sometimes the facts of a client's case warrant advising that a poor outcome is probable, which is advice clients don't always want to hear - but which they need to hear if they are going to make intelligent decisions as to how they would like to proceed with settlement or trial. If this client feels he/she was billed excessively, we would be happy to discuss the issue. We strive to be accurate and fair in every aspect of our billing, and make it known (in writing) at the outset of our representation that any questions or problems with a bill will be addressed promptly and at no charge to the client. And while a standard Retainer Agreement does contain a provision for interest on unpaid accounts, as a professional courtesy we rarely apply it. We will work with clients struggling with finances; however, sometimes it becomes apparent that a client simply has no intention of making payment, such that agreed-to interest is then applied on his/her bill. Again, this is a rare occurrence. Lastly, as to the "short tempered and unfriendly" comment, those aren't words most clients use to describe our time working together, and without knowing this person's particular experience it is hard for me to address the comment. One thing I can say is that sometimes the client's and attorney's personalities just are not a good fit. Perhaps that was the problem here.

Perfect Representation

Brian was amazing. I had my divorce handled previously by a different lawyer who looking back had zero interest in helping me at that time, or looking out for my young child's best interests and only wanted money. So, to my pleasant surprise when I approached Brian (who was referred to me by a close ...family friend who raved about him) he was very helpful. He was ALWAYS quick to respond or answer any questions I had, and even give me advice on how to handle certain situations. He definitely went above and beyond his job description to not only get the best result for me but took care of my son's needs as well. He is very thorough and explains everything so there are no surprises which made me feel more comfortable in such an uncomfortable setting. He was not only easy to work with but someone anyone can get along with. I wish I would have had him from the start and I never would have had to go back to court. Brian represented my son and I perfectly.

Overall Review of Mr. Welsh

Having to find an attorney and make the decision of ending a marriage is a very difficult one. I interviewed a few attorneys prior to choosing, Mr. Welsh. Mr. Welsh explained everything that you will face step by step. He allows you to ask questions and gives you his honest opinion or answer. Face i...t, you will be making enough decisions and you will need all information you can get to make a decision about your future an easier one. I found a lot of attorney's may give you the run around, he will not. Calls will be returned and you will not be left without answers. Your future depends on him and you will feel you have made the best decision in hiring him to represent you. Your journey will be hard, he will make it easier to handle. I felt I made a solid choice after my divorce was final. I would highly recommend Mr. Welsh to represent anyone who may be looking for a great attorney.

The voice of reason at a time of turmoil

Like many facing the end of a marriage, I was in shock and completely overwhelmed at the dysfunctional life I was living when I first met with Brian for advice. He took time to understand the details of my situation, my values and my priorities, and laid out a plan. He was with me every step of t...he way. He was an advisor to me and an advocate in the courtroom. I highly recommend Brian.

Best legal representation I could ask for

Brian is both and amazing lawyer and person. I was nothing shy of scared, nervous, and lost the first time we met to get legal advice on my decision to get divorced. I knew after speaking with him for one hour that he was the PERSON I wanted representing me. He’s an extremely knowledgeable lawyer ...but the person behind that title is what made him my choice. There are many stressful moments when dealing with a legal event and he made them all easier to both understand and deal with. He always showed both myself and my now ex-wife courtesy when dealing with this difficult event and reinforced with every meeting he and I had why I made such a sound decision in legal representation. He came highly recommended to me and I hope this review helps someone else with their choice in a lawyer for their family legal matter. You will not be disappointed, I could not be more thankful.
