I am the Principal Attorney at Hill Law, PLLC. I focus my practice in the area of Matrimonial and Family law within Erie and Niagara counties.
Matrimonial and Family Law matters often require clients to discuss their innermost private and delicate issues that have a lifelong impact on their lives and the lives of their families. I pride myself on having the ability to make clients feel comfortable through emotionally strenuous times while preserving their trust and zealously advocating on their behalf. I firmly believe that is important to be caring, patient, and attentive to clients’ needs while maintaining open and honest communication. My goal is to get clients through what is likely one of the most stressful times of their lives as efficiently as possible while achieving favorable outcomes that are enduring and foresee potential conflicts that may arise.
I am a native of Western New York and received my Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law in December 2015. I sat for the February 2015 New York State Bar Exam and was admitted to the New York State Bar in June of 2015. Since that time, I have practiced exclusively in the field of Matrimonial and Family Law. I am a member the New York State Bar Association, the Minority Bar Association of Western New York, the Women’s Bar Association of New York (Western New York Chapter), and the Erie County Bar Association.

Ms. Washington showed no respect for my attorney; who is very well-respected. She told him to shut up in Court. She listened to only one side. She showed prejudice against myself and my attorney. I raised my son alone for 13 years. He is a special-needs child regardless what was said. Apparently, it’...

Marissa is a professional, thoughtful and caring attorney who knows the law. She assisted me in getting visitation established with my granddaughter. She was always available whenever I had a question or a worry, returned calls promptly and kept me in the know at all times. She cared and that meant a...

She was appointed by the court to represent children in custody, She rarely spoke to the children, only once during the case, there was no follow up or real concern for the children. Maybe she is better with paying clients, but with this case she has failed to represent the children that she was sup...
As an Attorney for the Children (AFC), I am appointed to represent the children throughout the various proceedings they are involved in during their childhoods. Just as parties to a case (typically parents) have their own attorneys, so do children. My job is NOT to represent the wants/wishes of the parents, rather, it is to express the wants/wishes of the children. It is not uncommon for those desires to conflict leaving one parent dissatisfied as appears to have been the case in this matter. When representing children, I meet with them AND speak with collaterals such as teachers, medical providers, and the like to obtain supplemental information to support my clients' positions and gain more insight into the facts at hand. It is not uncommon for me to go to children's schools unbeknownst to parents as well to avoid any undue influence being placed on the children prior to our meetings. I will also meet with parents if they desire, and/or if the attorneys for the parents allow. Only in very limited circumstances am I able to substitute judgment and undermine my clients' positions. Certainly, the position of an AFC is not determinative of the outcome of a proceeding. It is only the parents who can reach an agreement or a Judge who can render a final decision. I can assure you that I treat ALL clients equally, regardless of payment source. I note that, in reviewing my files, I have no parent who fits the name and information provided in the description of the above review.

I have so many positive comments regarding Marissa’s professionalism and results I do not know where to start. My first consult with Marissa was for custody/visitation (my son’s father thought it was amusing to play with the family court system); however Marissa did not. After a positive consult, I h...
