After just one consultation she helped me feel secure. Once you speak with her, you just know she’s the right fit, she gives off trustworthy energy. I am looking to retain her soon. If you’re looking for someone who is genuine, sincere, and straightforward, you just might find she is a must have on your team! I’ll update once I retain her and move forward in my case; )
Marissa is a professional, thoughtful and caring attorney who knows the law. She assisted me in getting visitation established with my granddaughter. She was always available whenever I had a question or a worry, returned calls promptly and kept me in the know at all times. She cared and that meant a lot to me and still does. I recommend her highly for any family law matter. She is truly an amazing attorney. It is comforting to know she is just a phone call away if I ever need her services again.
I am the Principal Attorney at Hill Law, PLLC. I focus my practice in the area of Matrimonial and Family law within Erie and Niagara counties.
Matrimonial and Family Law matters often require clients to discuss their innermost private and delicate issues that have a lifelong impact on their lives and the lives of their families. I pride myself on having the ability to make clients feel comfortable through emotionally strenuous times while preserving their trust and zealously advocating on their behalf. I firmly believe that is important to be caring, patient, and attentive to clients’ needs while maintaining open and honest communication. My goal is to get clients through what is likely one of the most stressful times of their lives as efficiently as possible while achieving favorable outcomes that are enduring and foresee potential conflicts that may arise.
I am a native of Western New York and received my Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law in December 2015. I sat for the February 2015 New York State Bar Exam and was admitted to the New York State Bar in June of 2015. Since that time, I have practiced exclusively in the field of Matrimonial and Family Law. I am a member the New York State Bar Association, the Minority Bar Association of Western New York, the Women’s Bar Association of New York (Western New York Chapter), and the Erie County Bar Association.

The best!!
I have so many positive comments regarding Marissa’s professionalism and results I do not know where to start. My first consult with Marissa was for custody/visitation (my son’s father thought it was amusing to play with the family court system); however Marissa did not. After a positive consult, I hired Marissa for my case. She went above and beyond to regulate and setup parameters to benefit my son (and myself) and ensure his safety. She is completely down to earth and is very personable. She stays on top of everything. There wasn’t a moment where I wondered what’s going on and there was constant communication. Her attention to detail is AMAZING and caused the other party to fold immediately. A couple months later I received paperwork for a court appearance for child support (other party looking to reduce support). I automatically asked Marissa to take this case, which of course resulted in desired judgement and more! The idea of court itself is stressful, but having Marissa in my corner I wasn’t worried or stressed at all. When you hire a lawyer of course you assume they know their stuff BUT MARISSA ABSOLUTELY KNOWS!! I wholeheartedly recommend Marissa for your family court cases!!!

Search No Further - Marissa IS OUTSTANDING
When I retained Marissa to handle my divorce, I didn’t just get an exceptional, highly competent and knowledgeable Attorney. I also got a kind, caring, genuine person who ultimately cared about me as a person, not just as a client. My first call to her wasn’t scheduled, but the timing was right and we spoke on the phone for quite awhile, her answering my numerous questions and giving me a summary of how everything would be handled. I made an appointment to meet with her, and hung up the phone feeling satisfied and relieved (already knowing I’d be retaining HER!). From our very first phone conversation, and ever since, she has been attentive, determined, knowledgeable, diligent, confident, proactive, assertive and easily accessible (and if she’s not able to take my random call, she always gets back to me later that day by returning my call or Emailing, sometimes as late as 6:45pm). As a person, she has been consistently open with me, warm, sincere, comforting, and genuine. Those are qualities I value highly, as well. In summary - all of the above comments included - one of the greatest compliments I can give her is this- she thoroughly explains every single step/document/proposal/legal term/ etc. And, she does so with patience and compassion and understanding. I have and will continue to recommend her to anyone looking for legal representation in a divorce.

Client Centered, Efficient, and Highly Responsive!
While trying to deal with an upsetting situation on my own, I was referred to Marissa M. Hill and after my first conversation, she not only put my fears at ease, but had a strategic plan, followed up with involved parties by end of business day, and continually kept me informed of the case in a more than timely fashion. The outcome of my case was positive in a short amount of time and I felt like Marissa always had my best interest at heart, not only as a client, but also as a person. I give her my highest recommendation!

Relieved
Marissa did a fantastic job keeping my divorce very amicable, simple and fast. Anytime I've had a question she answers my emails or phone calls within a day and that's if she's not available. Her explanations are clear and she does a great job setting real expectations. As miserable as it is getting a divorce it was nice to have the legalities and paperwork off my mind so that I could just focus on my family.

Hired.
Just hired Marissa for my mothers divorce attorney. Knowing she is fairly new to this is what made me hire her. She has drive. I text a question and instead of texting me back, she placed a call to discuss my mothers case. I believe she has the drive to fight for my mother and the experience co workers within the firm to back her up! So far, things are good yet we have work to do. I have confidence in Marissa and will leave what I'm sure to be, another positive review further into the case. I look forward to recommending Marissa Hill in the future

Court appointed custody
She was appointed by the court to represent children in custody, She rarely spoke to the children, only once during the case, there was no follow up or real concern for the children. Maybe she is better with paying clients, but with this case she has failed to represent the children that she was suppose to do.
Response from Marissa WashingtonJanuary 11, 2019
As an Attorney for the Children (AFC), I am appointed to represent the children throughout the various proceedings they are involved in during their childhoods. Just as parties to a case (typically parents) have their own attorneys, so do children. My job is NOT to represent the wants/wishes of the parents, rather, it is to express the wants/wishes of the children. It is not uncommon for those desires to conflict leaving one parent dissatisfied as appears to have been the case in this matter.
When representing children, I meet with them AND speak with collaterals such as teachers, medical providers, and the like to obtain supplemental information to support my clients' positions and gain more insight into the facts at hand. It is not uncommon for me to go to children's schools unbeknownst to parents as well to avoid any undue influence being placed on the children prior to our meetings. I will also meet with parents if they desire, and/or if the attorneys for the parents allow. Only in very limited circumstances am I able to substitute judgment and undermine my clients' positions.
Certainly, the position of an AFC is not determinative of the outcome of a proceeding. It is only the parents who can reach an agreement or a Judge who can render a final decision. I can assure you that I treat ALL clients equally, regardless of payment source.
I note that, in reviewing my files, I have no parent who fits the name and information provided in the description of the above review.
