Biography
Mr. Gomez is a trial lawyer with a concentration in Civil Litigation. He has litigated a wide array of civil matters involving personal injury, toxic exposures including lead paint poisoning, employment and discrimination claims, commercial litigation, and contract disputes. He has handled matters from the initial investigation through trial and appeal in both State and Federal courts in New York and has tried more than thirty-five civil trials to verdict. Mr. Gomez advocates for his clients in both the prosecution and defense of civil claims. His clients have ranged from individuals to national corporations and he fights tirelessly on their behalf to ensure their rights are protected.
Mr. Gomez also represents small businesses ranging from sole proprietorships to not-for-profits to corporations in all aspects of their business pursuits. His work involves creation of the appropriate business entity, day to day legal counseling on liability issues, employment matters and contract drafting and review. As counsel to these businesses he assists his clients navigate the difficult waters of business to ensure they are in compliance with applicable laws and all rights are protected as they operate in today’s challenging economy.
Mr. Gomez is fluent in Spanish and is a first generation citizen who was born in Buffalo after his family moved to Western New York from the Dominican Republic. He is actively involved in the local Hispanic community including Hispanics United of Buffalo, and in 2008 he received the Nuestro Orgullo Latino award from HUB for his contributions. He has also been selected as a top lawyer in Insurance Litigation by Business First. Mr. Gomez has concentrated on lead paint poisoning cases and successfully tried the first civil case to verdict in Erie County in 2003. He has also been a national speaker on lead paint poisoning and presented at Mealey’s Lead Paint Poisoning program in 2008.
