Christopher ("Chris") Luhn practices law primarily in New York's Capital Region, which is to say in the Upstate counties of Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, and, oftentimes, in Warren and Washinton counties, as well.  Chris moved to Saratoga Springs with his wife and two step-children Immediately after completing his law studies at the University of Baltimore School of Law in June 1985. After passing both the Maryland and the New York Bar exams, he began practicing exclusively in the field of personal injury trial law until August 2000 when he joined the New York State Attorney General's Civil Litigation Trial Bureau.  After a time, though, Chris decided that he was more suited for private practice, leaving the AG's office to start his own "solo" practice from 1995 to 2000, and from 2008 to now, concentrating on civil litigation, Family Law, and vehicle and traffic cases. Now, Chris handles traffic ticket cases and select Family Law matters, including child custody and child support.  Chris does NOT handle divorce cases.   Every phone call is taken or returned personally by Mr. Luhn, giving all callers a 15-20 minute initial phone consultation at no charge.  Mr. Luhn looks forward to hearing from you and providing you with personal and competent legal services at a fair price.

A Happy Texas Longhorn Fan
I received multiple tickets when I traveled to work in Malta, New York. Needless to say, I was extremely scared. I am so grateful to have Mr. Luhn representing me. Mr. Luhn helped reducing my fines significantly. Mr. Luhn even personally delivered my papers to the Court on his way to a meeting. I wish my colleagues do not get any traffic ticket when they travel to Malta. But if they do, I would highly recommend them to contact Mr. Luhn.

Custody and Visitation
This review is long over due, I cannot say enough about Mr. Luhn, He is not the typical attorney he is caring considerate takes the time to listen to you and all your needs, he truly cares about you as a person which is very rare these days. My situation I obtained an attorney for is not only stressful but very personal he always has a way of keeping me on track and calm. As far as law he is a perfectionist and knows all the laws inside and out if he doesn't he researches to teach you himself and to represent you the best way possible. I have been so pleased with Mr. Luhn and recommend him highly. Maria

Knowledgeable and reliable
Attorney Luhn has represented myself and family for many years. He is a knowledgeable and reliable attorney who has worked in many areas of law including personal injury, family law and criminal. He is a particularly savvy personal injury attorney and in all matters the type of negotiator you want on your side.
Response from Christopher Luhn January 25, 2017
Thank you, Susan, for your kind words and endorsement. I count myself as privileged to have represented people that have been wronged and are in need of a "champion".

A breath of fresh air
Being stuck in a difficult and emotive situation and having been failed badly by lawyers on both sides of the pond, Chris was a breath of fresh air. He was honest and open and at great pains to explain the realistic outcome and expectations of the case without bigging himself up or making unrealistic promises. I felt very quickly that we could trust him for an objective opinion on the situation and have deferred to him on several occaisions since for an opinion or advice; In each case I have found him to be honest, responsive and candid. Definatly my go to guy for legal matters in the Capitol District.

It is said that "winning isn't everything". But, when a child's best interests and wellbeing are at stake, coming in "second" simply is not an acceptable option. It was my privilege to be Angela's "champion". Thank you, Angela.

Reduced 11 points to 2!
Christopher Luhn helped me reduce 11 points to only 2 in an quick, easy, effective way! I was pulled over in NY and received 3 tickets totaling 11 points. Mr. Luhn did a great job negotiating with the prosecutor to reduce the total of 11 points down to only 2! Being from New Jersey, Mr. Luhn made it so I did not even have to travel to NY for the trial. Mr. Luhn is very extremely and pleasurable to work with. The portal he uses is extremely easy to use and is a very efficient way to communicate and send documents back and forth. Mr. Luhn was very responsive whenever I had any questions and almost always replied the same day. I hope I do not get any other tickets but if I do I will definitely go back to Mr. Luhn for help and I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs help with moving violations.

I just noticed that I never responded to Diana's very kind and favorable post. It is a real pleasure, and emotionally gratifying, to represent clients that make an immediate favorable impression and work collaboratively with counsel every step of the way. Diana is such a client. Thank you, Diana, and best of luck with your studies.

Chris is steady and connected.
I have been completely satisfied with the work Chris has done for me over the years--just traffic tickets, I'm afraid ( or glad :-). The best part, I think, for a larger audience, however, is that he is so well connected to judges and DAs and town courts that he can handle things quickly and beneficially. So he has a good reputation on their side. He can be funny, and always helps me to put matters into perspective at the same time he is doing the work. I am grateful for what he has done for me: the process as well as the outcome.

settled
I found Mr. Luhn by using a web search for an attorney in Ballston spa to represent me in a matter concerning State Farm. I didn't think the subrogation claim was justified at all but I was way behind them in expertise and knowledge of that area. I stood to lose a lot. Chris helped me negotiate a settlement that I'm sure both parties disliked but it was far less than I was going to lose without his help.

Response from Christopher Luhn June 17, 2015
This was an interesting case, and I'm glad I was able to help. Fortuitously, I was an insurance adjuster (Senior Property Claims Adjuster) in a large city for 7 years before going to law school. Here, it was clear that the State Farm claims adjuster had not handled the case in a way that allowed him to support all the demands being made by State Farm. Knowing that, and where the failures took place, allowed us to demonstrate to State Farm that it was in for a rocky road unless it settled on terms far more reasonable than they'd originally demanded. In any event, it was a privilege to be of assistance to this client, and to help prevent being held-up by the carrier.

Speeding ticket
I received a speeding ticket in NY when traveling back to Vermont. Chris was professional and reduced my speeding fine significantly. I didn't have to travel back to NY and the on line document transfer Chris uses really helped keep things organized and private. Thanks.
Response from Christopher Luhn March 27, 2017
Thank you, Steve. It was a pleasure helping you. (I'm also happy that you enjoyed the case management system I use. Like you, most clients love it!) Best, Chris Luhn

"Chris is a focused and diligent advocate for his clients interests. He is well prepared for trial but is very creative when it comes for fashioning settlements which are mindful of the interests of the children of a family in transition. Also, he is one if the best attorneys for the child that I came to know during my 10 year term as a family court judge."

"I endorse this lawyer. Christopher is active in the legal community and well known to many of us. He offers great advice and experience to both clients and fellow attorneys. When he gives advice to fellow attorneys, I can only say "well said." He knows his stuff and where to go for areas outside his expertise. I have referred clients who were pleased with the experience."
