Steven Jared Gaitman

After interviewing several lawyers I chose Steven Gaitman for several reasons. He is extremely informative, knowledgeable and most importantly attentive and responsive. He followed up with me weekly until my cases were solved. I have referred Steven to a bunch of family and friends because of my expe...rience with him and his firm. He helped me and my family out over a dozen times in the last 8 years. He is up to date on current NYS laws and the court system. He made thinks very simple for us. I would never use another lawyer.

I was told that my records would be sealed, but never told that they would be only *partially* sealed until the judgement was already completed. Come to find out nearly two years later that had I just pled guilty to the original charges rather than accepting a non-sense plea deal, I could have be...en eligible for a complete sealing had I satisfied certain conditions, which I would have been more than willing to do. I now have a record that is available to pretty much any employer that cares to do a background check. Extremely discouraging after I spent two years turning my life around only to find myself unemployable and unaware all of this time.

Mr. Gaitman represented me 2 or 3 years ago for a Urinating in Public violation. Mr. Gaitman was a calming influence and explained the procedure of my court appearance in a thorough manner. Although he was not able to get the charges completely dropped, I walked away with a minimal fine (court cost...s) and a six month warning. I am confident that this was the best deal that could have been made.

Mr. Gaitman did not respond to our questions regarding an "offer" for our son, nor did he return calls. He urged us to a grand jury, saying he had a very good record with grand juries, and that he would prepare the witnesses, but then never had the "time" to do that. He also did not inform us that ...by submitting to a grand jury, if indicted, our son could be re-arrested, re-arraigned, and charged with higher charges and jailed at a higher bail/bond. We might have done things differently had we known that. As a result, we were put in a more serious situation. We ultimately dismissed Mr. Gaitman which put us in the position of hiring another attorney and paying another retainer.
