Carol Eileen Ryder

We hired her a while back to take care of some nursing home and will-type planning legal stuff for us and then for my in-laws. They were stubborn but she VERY patiently convinced them that in the long-run, certain strategies would be best. Then, recently, we had to see the results during a really tou...gh time after my father-in-law got really sick, and it turned out Carol was right on-target on everything, down to how to avoid World War III with the relatives. Thank goodness they listened. This would have been a nightmare otherwise as you can go figure. Just talk to her, she listens, figures things out, doesn't hit you with bills for every little thing as we had happen with some lawyers in the past and you will be happy.

My husband and I highly recommend Carol to our friends and coworkers. We hired Carol after a bad experience with a lawyer who despite his good reviews really messed up (we reached a point where they scheduled an auction) he gave up and we didn’t know what to do. My friend at work recommended Carol (...she had used her in her divorce) and since she did foreclosures we hired Carol. She was so caring and friendly and she got to work right away by going after the bank. (The bank had been impossible to deal with for years! And our first lawyer got nowhere with them.) Carol got to work for us and we got the modification at a great rate, a huge principle cut, and 40 years to re-pay! she got all the insane fees the bank had been racking up against us taken off. Seriously can’t imagine where we would be without her.

I have been so happy over the years with Carol. I originally hired her years ago for my parents, who needed an Estate Plan, including what she called 'Medicaid Planning' just in case something happened and one of them needed to go into a nursing home. Naturally, my siblings were nervous about me hiri...ng the attorney myself but everything went well. She told us we could get Mom help with a home aide to take the burden off Mom caring for Dad, and the aide was approved quickly even though we thought they earned way too much to quality (she set up Trust). Then, eventually, because she had suggested we think 5 years ahead, to get another Trust properly set up to move the house and stuff, Dad was covered for the nursing home. That was a God-send because Mom couldn't afford the $14,000 a month it cost and he could no longer stay at home even though we had a live-in aide. In the middle of all this, I was served, sort-of unexpectedly, with divorce and custody papers. I was mortified to make the call but she was so sweet, she hugged me when we met to go over the papers I was served, she didn't judge me, listened to me crying on the phone, and more, without billing me for all that (my best friend's attorneys billed her for every second and messed up her cases anyway-I had Carol take over and that got fixed). Then, got the house and a nice settlement but I lost my job and went into foreclosure so again, I called her, crying as usual. She came over, appraised the house, and far more, didn't bill me to do that part, listened, asked me to give her summaries and things to save billable hours, unlike my GF's and other attorneys people I know used, and it turned out well. We received notice that the bank dropped the case after years of legal battles and now I can sell it or stay in it, which comes in handy because now that the kids are off in college, and, by the way, they got to live with me and stay in this top school district at least until high school graduation, our sole original goal, this place is probably too big anyway but at least NOW I can breathe. I have a lot to think about but at least now I can calmly figure out the next step.

I paid her 3800 upfront for a foreclosure case in October of 2016. She keep telling me she was working on the case and in September of 2017 she stopped responding to me phone calls and text messages. In October I got a letter from the courts telling me my house was going to be sold at auction on oct ...31. I hired a new lawyer to try and stop the auction be he could not and I lost my house. Do not use her she takes your money and lies to you

She spent a lot of time from Day 1 going over our case over the phone, then we met her and she again, went through a mountain of paperwork asking lots of key questions our previous attorney never even thought of She was able to win where he just kind-of gave up and said it was a hopeless case! Yet HE... sent us a HUGE bill again after HE lost yet had he spent just a couple of hours asking the right questions, maybe we would have won. Then again, she also did well doing a conference with the judge and he seemed to like her a lot, even laughed a bit yet was and before, when we had our previous attorney, judge got snippy with HIM and annoyed at the attorney for the other side when she started pointing out how HE was acting in bad faith. She saved our house AND our sanity.
