Having spent most of my life in Show Business and also having grown up around and dabbled in my family’s business of Real Estate, I’ve certainly had my share of dealings with attorneys. I’ve gone back and forth with Entertainment attorneys, engaged with Copywrite attorneys, and sometimes even battle...d with Buyer’s and Seller’s attorneys during real estate transactions. Some of these folks were up to par, some of them absolutely dismal. Harvey Fox, however, is simply the best attorney I have ever had the pleasure of working with. To give you a bit of background, Harvey represented me with the sale of my home in East Hampton during the Covid 19 pandemic. Selling a home under the usual duress is stressful enough, but selling during a global pandemic when “under the gun” to get things lined up for new surveys and a new Certificate of Occupancy is like trying to thread a needle with your eyes closed. Harvey was with me every step of the way during this incredibly stressful time answering every question and assuaging every fear. That he is a brilliant attorney goes without saying, but Harvey Fox goes much further than that. Harvey thinks “out of the box”. There was never a second during this extremely difficult sale that I had one iota of doubt that Harvey “had my back”. He is a gem of a man, an extraordinarily talented lawyer, and a caring human being. Mr. Harvey Fox is hands down the best lawyer you can find in New York for your legal needs. We contacted Mr. Fox after we closed on a house in Mineola to evict an illegal tenant and later for village building violation. Case 1: The case was a complex eviction case as the illegal tenant was a real...-estate agent who knew all the legal loopholes to delay eviction as much as possible. We contacted Harvey on 14/12/2017 and he had the tenant served with a legal notice in 2 hours, that was super impressive to us when other attorneys were saying it will take about 1+ week to serve the tenant. When the tenant refused to leave, Harvey took the matters to the landlord-tenant court and after few days of back and forth with the tenant, got her to sign an agreement to move out soon. We were very impressed with how he handled and took care of us all through this terrible experience. Case 2: The outgoing illegal tenant complained to the village building department that she was an illegal tenant and that we are collecting rent. Though the previous owner rented out the place, as per the law even if you don't collect the rent/in-process of eviction, the fines will be on the new owner. We contacted Harvey again due to his excellent reputation and knowledge to help us to fight the village. The village wanted $16,000 as a fine for the violations and Harvey got it down to $1800 to just one charge instead of 8 violations(because of the previous owner). He fought with the Village attorneys hard and was about to take the case to a trial when they settled. Mr. Fox still went a step further and reduced his fees to make it easier for us to pay the fine.
