Response from Harvey Kallus July 27, 2018
I am sorry you did not find our consultation to be helpful. After listening to your current difficult situation, I proposed you consider two courses of action:
-one by filing in court, and
-one by trying to contact the children's parents out of court.
I suggested you file with the court immediately (with or without an attorney), and also try the out of court resolution attempt simultaneously. If that worked, you could withdraw the court case and the other side would never know you filed. If it did not, then you would be closer to a court resolution.
I explained what the Court's focus would be, and the probable outcomes, and then discussed the pros and cons of both options. I did not perceive in any way that you were dissatisfied with our meeting, especially when you thanked me for meeting with you prior to payment.
When you scheduled the consultation you were advised that I charge a reduced hourly rate of $250 for an hour consultation. My notes reflect we met for approximately 50 minutes. On a half hour meeting I would usually charge less. If I am incorrect about the time we spent together, I would like to make it right with you, and ask that you return my call from this morning, so we can try and address your dissatisfaction.
