The most difficult decision I have ever made was filing for bankruptcy. I was overwhelmed with guilt and shame. I was also dealing with very aggressive ( and unscrupulous collectors). David was very gentle and explained my options. He allowed ME to make the decision. What turned the tide for me was w...hen we reviewed the debt and my payments over 25 years which showed I had paid the original debt 4 times over and was still no closer to paying down the principal. I also came to find out that personal financial debt and the stress that goes with it is one of the best kept secrets with families. No one wants to talk about their debt (guilt and shame). I am a good man who made some poor financial decisions that were going to ruin any chance of a reasonable retirement. David (and his staff) treated me with dignity and respect. They walked me through every step of the process and took my calls when I had questions or concerns (there were many). It has been almost two years since my bankruptcy. Since then I have not incurred ANY debt, do not have or want credit cards, have been contributing to my retirement plan, have a small savings and this year stayed within my budget with a small surplus as of years end yesterday. What a relief. This review is long overdue and I wanted to tie up loose ends going into the new year. While filing bankruptcy is a mechanical, cold, unfeeling process David and his staff understood and supported me personally with the sometimes overwhelming feelings I had around this decision. Yes!!!! Today I received my discharge letter, oh how good it feels to start anew. It took me a while to get over my nerves and actually go through with claiming bankruptcy but today I am beyond grateful that I did it.
