David Michael Oddo

DAVID M. ODDO, a member of the firm Oddo & Babat, P.C., is a prominent New York trial attorney known for his attention to his clients, as well as his trial skills, which has resulted in many large verdicts and settlements. He has dedicated his career to representing people whose lives have been devastated by the negligence and recklessness of others.

As an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office (1989-1993), Mr. Oddo fought for crime victims in his prosecution of serious criminal cases. He then brought his passion for justice, as well as his vast trial experience, to private practice, concentrating his practice in the litigation and trial of complex civil cases in medical malpractice, products liability and catastrophic personal injury. “I love being a trial lawyer. Very few professions can make such a difference in people’s lives.” Mr. Oddo believes strongly that his practice has a larger purpose, to “fight for improvements in medical care and consumer safety. I am confident that our efforts contribute to bringing about a safer world, whether it be adequate medical care, safer cars or a safer workplace.”

Mr. Oddo received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York, College at Cortland in 1986.  He obtained his Juris Doctorate at the Jacob D. Fushberg Law Center at Touro College (1989), where he was an Editor of the Touro Law Review (1988-1989).  He was admitted to the New York State and Connecticut Bar in 1990 and is also admitted in the United States District Courts, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (1993). In May 2016, Mr. Oddo was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He is  a Past-President-Elect of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA) and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2010. He has also served as Vice Chair of the NYSTLA Legislative Committee (2015-17) and served as Secretary (2015-17). Mr. Oddo is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a distinction given to less than one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Association of Justice and the New York County Lawyer’s Association, among a number of other state and local Bar Associations.

Mr. Oddo has represented clients in a number of high profile civil and criminal cases throughout the State. He enjoys the highest ranking of 10 from AVVO and was named one of the Top Lawyers Northeast and Top Lawyers New York, by Arrive Magazine in 2011. Mr. Oddo authors legal blogs each month and appears as a guest blogger on legal websites across the country. He has also served as a lecturer on topics concerning the economist’s role in trial preparation and presentation, the use of biomechanical experts at trial, as well as the role and function of the U.S. Civil Justice System. A dedicated husband and father of four, Mr. Oddo has volunteered his time over the last 20 years to coach various youth sports teams in his community.
