Great and Knowledgeable Lawyer!

Wow, Steven is a great lawyer! He want above and beyond to help me with my landlord/tenant matter. He answered my questions thoroughly and is extremely knowledgeable and diligent. I would recommend him to anyone.

One in a Million Attorney who cares for his clients

I would add "ditto" to every positive review on this site. Steve Smollens represented me in a tenant/landlord matter in NYC. He negotiated a remarkable settlement for me. I could not have gotten to first base with this case without him. His expertise was obvious from the first phone call to him. ... It was also immediately apparent that he was on my side and didn't hesitate to evaluate my situation and explain it to me so that I understood it. He is the most "real" attorney I have ever dealt with. A straight shooter, knows his field expertly and put my worries to rest. I would highly recommend him. I appreciated his honesty, integrity and experience and know he would do the same for you.

A brilliant lawyer who does not miss a detail

I worked with Steve for over 10 years on a real estate issue that was utlimately resolved in my favor. He is incredibly smart and has an uncanny memory for even the smallest detail. I would not have won my case without Steve. For example, I had interviewed a number of lawyers before I chose him to... represent me. But Steve was the only one who immediately spotted a key fact in the evidence. It was that very fact that enabled me to win my case! I highly recommend him.

By far the best attorney I've worked with

I would absolutely recommend Steve to anyone seeking legal advice. An outstanding Landlord/Tenant attorney, Steve knows the ins and outs of every court and agency dealing with residential and commercial properties in and around New York City. He has represented me in longstanding litigation agains...t my landlord and successfully mapped a strategy on day one that we have followed without major hiccup or deviation. Steve has the ability to seamlessly interweave the facts and circumstances of the case before him with statute and case law. His writing style is both succinct and conversational, as such, his papers read as common sense supported by the law. In oral arguments, Steve is equally formidable. Steve can effectively use an economy of words to allow the other side to box themselves in, or, when called for, Steve can be forward leaning and vocifierous. It is not enough for an attorney to just know the law. That said, years of experience have given Steve enormous insight into the machine of the court system. This particular talent could be described uncharitably as "gamesmanship." Steve has an uncanny ability to read a judge, to see the strengths and weaknesses of the other side, to set the proper pace for a case, and he knows when to extend an olive branch, when to be jocular, and when to steamroll opposing counsel. WIth respect to communication, Steve has always been responsive and has kept me in the loop with respect to the arguments he wants to employ. In addition to keeping me informed as to what he has done, or intends to do on my behalf, Steve has also been able to manage my expectations. I would consider myself a fairly demanding client, so this is no easy feat. In the final analysis, I do not believe any other attorney could have represented me as well as Steve has done. My endorsement in unequivocal.

My own opinion.

He hasn't personally helped me with any of my questions yet. However I have read his response to others he has helped and I think he's absolutely great. He tells the person how it really is and yet still does it with a friendly tone to how he write it and that's not easy to do when typing to a person... compared to talking especially. I do hope he does one day answer a question of mine cause I will absolutely listen to him before any other attorney I know that for sure. Just check out his profile if you want more proof than just my opinion and facts on him and you will also see he has the credentials and a track record to back up what he has to say.
