Great attorney

Ameer N. Benno is a great attorney, he promised me that the case will be dismissed and it was. Furthermore, he was able to permanently seal any record of my arrest. He always answered e-mails and phone calls, and his services were fairly inexpensive.

Great criminal and appellate lawyer who is willing to help you in your time of need.

I called Mr. Benno for consultation concerning a possible criminal appeal stemming from a felony case in NY County Supreme Court. I'm scheduled for a jury trial and wanted to consult with an appellate lawyer in advance. I called Mr. Benno after seeing his profile on Avvo and got a call back almost in...stantly. I spoke with him for quite some length pertaining to his experience, details and thoughts of the case, and appellate practice. He was very genuine, open-minded, attentive and friendly. It was easy to communicate with him and he was responsive to my concerns. Moreover, I was comfortable speaking with him and felt he could be trusted and had my best interest at heart. He felt like an old friend, not an attorney. I also inquired out about his background as a lawyer. He's a former Manhattan DA with extensive experience in criminal and appellate work and has handled complex criminal appeals for the government and defendants alike; but now, he uses this experience strictly to benefit his clients'. He has worked on both sides of the playing field and can evaluate obstacles and legal maneuvers necessary to get the best outcomes. Additionally, he was an adjunct professor at New York Law School and taught countless students on legal reasoning, writing and advocacy. Needless to say, I enjoyed my conversation with him and gained invaluable insight. I know if I was to ever need a criminal or appellate lawyer, which I hope I don't, I would not hesitate to retain Mr. Benno. I can tell you after speaking with him, reading other client reviews and reviewing his credentials that he is a top-notch defender for anyone in need of a criminal or appellate lawyer. I truly hope I do not need the services of Mr. Benno for an appeal, but if I do, I know exactly who to call.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I have known Ameer not only as a fellow prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, but also as an attorney in private practice. As a prosecutor, Ameer was respected for his diligence, intelligence and ethic. Since leaving the District Attorney's Office, I also worked with Ameer after he referred me a client whom he was working with in civil litigation. I know Ameer obtained the best result possible for the client and worked hard in doing so. In the event I have a conflict with a client that prevents me from representing them or multiple defendants come to me, I would not hesitate to contact Ameer to take the case or work along with me."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
