    28 years

Since graduating from the University of Chicago Law School, I've been a senior executive, attorney and professor in the music business. With both extensive business experience and first-hand knowledge of what it means to be an artist, I understand the needs of both creators and companies as well as entities that manage or license intellectual property.

I work with talented colleagues who enable me to help individuals and businesses form, grow, raise money, create and license IP and resolve disputes.

I take pride in working efficiently, effectively and creatively. I'll analyze and explain the practicalities as well as the legalities of any situation. And, if you read any of my frequent blog posts, you'll see that I do so in plain English.

I speak with CourtTV's Michael Ayala about the lawsuit against Paramount over its latest hit "Top Gun: Maverick" involving the arcane "termination" provisions under the Copyright Act.

Excellent Music Attorney, Excellent Negotiator
Marc is my lawyer, and he's negotiated some sensitive contracts for me, like major-label publishing deals and unauthorized sampling/copyright infringement cases. He's very courteous and knowledgable, and is a beast of a negotiator. He's also very good at educating his clients on everything from the basics of copyright law to the nitty-gritty of advanced royalty terms. Highly recommended.
