Amazing, Caring, Brilliant Attorney

I am a 45 year old Ivy League educated (both undergrad and grad) married parent of two, and professional living in Manhattan. Due to poor judgment, immaturity, and a lapse of control, I was arrested in April 2017 for 3rd degree assault. I am also a former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger officer with squeak...y clean record, no previous interaction with the police, who was traumatized by the event about all the downside risks and impact to my two young children, whom I felt I failed. I had consternation, contrition, and great anxiety about all the downside risks. The conclusion is that in July 2017, Florian got me off with the most desirable outcome of an ACD through masterful legal maneuvering where he deftly counseled me on each step of the byzantine legal process - which to a lay person can be very intimidating. Technically speaking, Florian is a brilliant attorney who handles intellectually and legally complex cases. This 3rd degree assault, while traumatic to me is a technically easy case and legally routine to Florian and his firm. But let me tell you why I avidly endorse Florian and his firm. We hear a lot of bad things about attorneys. But Florian is the rare bird who has integrity and actually cares about his clients and their cases. He's also not venal trying to run the taxi meter, which is what I noticed with many attorneys when I did my due diligence in attorney selection. He has integrity and palpably when you interact with him in person he has outstanding professional and personal character and integrity. You cannot put a dollar value on that trust and peace of mind Thank you so much Florian!

The Right Defender at the Right Time

With an unexpected case filed against me, I wasn't sure where to turn. Recommendations for Florian's firm (M+M) proved to be invaluable. Together, both Florian and Aaron Mysliwiec proved to be a phenomenal team. While Aaron was my primary legal representative, Florian represented me in a court appear...ance and accompanied me to important meetings. Throughout the case, Florian provided valuable insight, words of encouragement and helped me articulate the justice-based framework for my defense, which was subject in the case. This helped ensure that I was most comfortable with my position and the eventual outcome of a case dismissal.

Outstanding Attorney - Both extraordinarily intelligent and personable

Florian jumped right into my (ongoing) case after I decided I could not work effectively with my first attorney who I did not trust. I have worked with a number of attorneys professionally, and find Florian ranks among the top. What impressed me the most was how dedicated he was to my case - he calle...d me with updates, kept me apprised of my options, and gave me his complete attention when I worked with him in person. In addition, Florian meticulously edited work I would later present regarding my case, and exhibited true concern/empathy for what I was going through. He welcomed and responded quickly and thoroughly to my many questions. I really appreciated his guidance, both legal and personal. He is a kind individual whose experience and knowledge of the law was increasingly evident over the 6 or so months I worked with him.

None better for appeals and criminal defense

Florian Miedel was referred to me by a well-known civil rights/criminal defense firm when they were unavailable to argue a bail pending appeal issue that had been moved up unexpectedly by the court. This was perhaps the best thing that could have occurred for me--especially since the referring firm ...seemed rather disinterested by my inability to afford exorbitant fees. Mr. Miedel is knowledgeable and logical, practical and persistent, and he is an attorney who respects his clients. He advocates for his client, not just for his pocket. Mr. Miedel won the bail argument and proceeded to represent me on appeal. I was innocent but had been charged with crimes when persons lied to police. Mr. Miedel was understanding of my plight, and remained dogged in defending me against improper determinations. He was fantastic about cooperating with my significant input and responding to my concerns as well as unexpected and serious twists and turns of matters. Due to the wide range of matters related to the appeal, Florian competently analyzed, reviewed, and presented numerous arguments, which was quite time-consuming because a number of the issues entered rather uncommon territory. He did not avoid spending the necessary time on my matter even though he was not being paid hourly. It was clear that he intended and desired to represent me competently, rather than just collect a fee. Most importantly, he listened to me. That does not happen all the time in representation, and when it does not, bad things result. Florian valued my input, and incorporated it: this was critical, because I was a knowledgeable resource about the matter, and because I stood to suffer additional serious consequences if the unjustified situation were allowed to stand: I knew what was at stake, and I knew what arguments I wanted made. Florian listened, researched on his own, cooperated extensively with me, then won the appeal, obtaining a just result. That is not the full measure of the attorney you get when Mr. Miedel represents you, however. While appellate argument was pending, the prosecution attempted to revoke bail in unwarranted and improper fashion. This was a serious matter portending numerous unwarranted and nasty consequences. Florian handled the hearing pro bono, and undertook the filing of an Article 78 hearing with little time to prepare in order to keep me out of jail and from probably losing my job. This was done basically on his own initiative; based on my experience with other attorneys, some would either not even have thought of such a response or would have simply let their client head to jail before taking time to attempt to address matters. Despite the maneuvering of the prosecution, Florian succeeded in having the matter stayed. Florian then won the appeal. He also won the Article 78 hearing. In case you weren't paying attention, all of this activity and achievement supports that Mr. Miedel is a dedicated, caring, and effective attorney who is responsive, flexible, and willing to fight for his clients, even on his own time. He put up with my great concerns, and remained concerned himself. That is why I have taken time to write this review. There is no higher level of recommendation for this experienced and ethical attorney, regarding criminal defense and appellate representation. Mr. Miedel's colleague in practice has apparently also received a perfect AWO attorney rating, but Mr. Miedel deserves one as well.

Defense Attorney- NYC

During our initial visit with Mr. Miedel, he had already done some research on my case, which was impressive for any attorney before they were retained. He is very detail oriented and will spend the extra time to get to know your case to best defend you. Florian was always responsive and I was always... well informed during the whole ordeal. I highly recommend Mr. Miedel and his firm.
