Poor client service, poor result - tread carefully

I do not recommend Romano Law. I hired them for an employment issue after reading good reviews, but had a negative experience. Prior to making my payment, I found Domenic very accessible, nice and even sympathetic. (He even talked about his Canadian hospitality). Post payment it was hard to get him o...n the phone, and he was curt to the point that he missed a key component of my case which I believe resulted a lower settlement. He blamed/bullied me for this. The second problem is the business model. To save the client money, they let Jr. people do certain work. I know this is a standard practice and I'm sure it works if executed properly, but I dealt with three different people and I think that's why a key piece of my case fell through the cracks. I did not feel like they were fighting for me. Since I was paying on an hourly basis (I recommend not doing this) there was no incentive, beyond professional ethics, for him to fight for me. I wrote Domenic a polite letter to give him an opportunity to respond and rectify but he did not - he had a junior lawyer call me with what was very much the corporate line. If you want to learn more about the firm, look at the Glassdoor review (where employees give their experience). I would suggest that they way one treats his employees is the way he will treat customers. In summary, they may be competent and smart people, and I even liked the work of the junior lawyer (and liked him personally), but unless they think they have an incentive to help you, you will be pushed to the bottom of the barrel. I suggest hiring a single proprietor who will give you their full attention and who will treat you with the respect a client should be accorded.

Hi Tom, Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with the resolution of your matter. We’re known for, and take pride in, our passion and ability to fight for our clients. It disappoints us to see that you feel differently here, although we did appreciate your kind words in your final email acknowledging Aaron’s “great job”. As you mentioned, having well-trained junior attorneys do much of the heavy lifting is common practice in our industry and intended to keep a client’s costs down. This is always disclosed before any work is performed. On a separate note, the Glassdoor profile you are referencing is actually an unaffiliated and different Romano Law firm located in Michigan (we are located in New York). Those reviews are not reflective of how we treat our employees and certainly not how we approach our relationships with our clients. In any event, we wish you all the best.
