Richard Roman Shum

I had a bad experience with Mr Shum, he was recommended by another attorney and I should have done more research. He charged me twice for "prep for appearance" but I feel he was unprepared at court and did not represent me as well as other attorneys have in the past. After the court appearance wh...en I emailed him asking information he insisted I send him more money to a retainer and only then he would answer me, this was after me paying him over $3000 in attorney fees in a simple back payment for child support, and one time appearance, I will not be using Mr Schum again. again.

I cannot recommend Richard Shum enough. He is a rare breed of lawyer and quite frankly, of human being, who will fight like a bulldog on the issues you need him to, will keep an eye on time/money so as to not completely drain your resources, and he also has a moral compass and keeps what is best for... the whole family, i.e. the children/or the big picture in mind in all his proceedings. He actually cares about what he does, how he handles himself, and what is best for his clients and I recommend him to everyone I know. Every single member of my family is lucky we had him in our corner when we needed to figure everything out. Again, cannot recommend this lawyer enough

Mr. Richard Shum, is very reliable, gets great results for you, and makes it extremely convenient for you to continue with your work life and personal life while he works hard for you. A very bad experience! I hired Mr. Shum to help me with my divorce in August 2020. The first red flag was when he used "wtf" in a professional email in response to my suggestion that he add something to the letter to my husband. Then it took him 8 weeks to produce a motion of default. His response to... my email about the time frame was "as soon as possible and If you ask again you will be charged fees". Finally I received a 1 page motion which was a cookie cutter motion that anybody could create themselves just by googling "motion of default". All that Mr. Shum did was add my and my husbands name and charged me 3.5 hours for that work. I do not recommend this lawyer. It was my mistake hiring him after finding him through a google search.

When I contacted Mr. Shum I was in the middle of a surreal case that made me feel unsafe in my own apartment and radically shook my emotional space. I had to act fast and I talked to several lawyers over a few days. I was clueless about rates and ways to operate but I usually know when not to tru...st, and many of them sounded untrustworthy, interested only in their own profit. Mr. Shum was clear from the beginning about what he could do, he explained the case from the point of view of the law and choosing him as my lawyer immediately took a load off my shoulders. He’s tough and to the point, which helped solve the case and helped me think clearly and proactively in a moment of distress. I’d recommend him to anyone who might need his expertise, without hesitation.
