While working as a systems analyst by day, I attended Seton Hall Law School at night. As a law student, I selected every criminal law elective offered, graduating cum laude in 1976. I took and passed the New Jersey Bar that same year.
In 1977, I left my systems analyst position to practice law. In the beginning, I took whatever kind of case came through the door. That included negligence, family law, aviation law (I have a commercial pilot's license), worker compensation, collections and, of course, criminal defense. I also became a member of the Commercial Panel of the American Arbitration Association. Over time, I became more selective in the kinds of matters I would accept, eventually limiting my practice to just criminal law. However I continued to sit as an arbitrator, handling commercial disputes.
In 1989, I became a staff member of the Offfice of the Public Defender, in New Brunswick. There I stayed until 1997 when I left to resume private practice. I've been in private practice ever since.
Still defending persons accused of crimes, my present practice also includes traffic matters, juvenile cases, driver's license suspension and revocation matters with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, and Second Amendment matters involving right to purchase and possess firearms. I have developed considerable expertise in New Jersey expungement law. And still I arbitrate disputes.
