I have practiced exclusively in the area of estate planning, estate administration, wills, trusts, and probate for thirteen years and am the founder of the Law Offices of Edward J. Smelter II located in East Brunswick, New Jersey. With a practice focusing on estate administration and estate tax and business planning, I work to preserve the wealth, independence, and peace of mind of my clients.
Admitted to the practice of law in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, I am a member of the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Middlesex County, and American Bar Associations.
I earned my Juris Doctor degree at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where I was named to the Dean’s List and helped found the school’s Corporate Law Society. I received my undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance from Temple University, where I graduated magna cum laude.
I previously served on the Educational Advisory Board of the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ESTATE PLANNING ATTORNEYS and have spoken extensively on the topics of Estate Planning and Estate Administration.
In 2006, I completed work on “Guiding Those Left Behind In New Jersey: Settling the Affairs of Your Loved One” with co-author Amelia E. Pohl, Esq. The book is a layman’s guide to estate administration in New Jersey and also serves as a primer for certain basic estate planning issues.
Away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Carol, and my children Arielle and Jacob. I am also an avid reader and a diehard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
