Cathy Lee Brackin

I met with Mrs. Brackin in June of 2014 to discuss the appeal for my disability case denial. I had applied myself the first time around, naively thinking that the process would be fairly simple. The first thing that struck me was that not only was I there to see if I wanted to hire her but she was... looking at me to see if she would take on my case. Not because my case was difficult but she wanted to make sure I was honest. My family and I appreciated that because it showed us that she wouldn’t take on just any case but only the cases that were honest. We hired Mrs. Brackin the next day and she went to work for us. My original application was filed in November of 2013, I finally received my Fully Favorable Decision in April of 2017, and received my full lump sum retro pay in September. Three years and three months after hiring her we have hope. Becoming disabled is agonizing, losing the life you had and your health. In 2013, I hired Ms Brackin to assist me in applying for Disability. She informed me that its not unusual for these claims to be initially denied. She added that if this occurred, we might be more successful if the case had to be appealed before a judge. Well, the case was denied and we recentl...y appeared before the assigned judge who listened to my appeal. I am extremely happy to report that at this level, we were successful and it was determined that I was eligible to receive full disability going back to 2012! The process took 3 years to complete, but it was well worth it. During this time, Ms Brackin kept me abreast of any communications between herself and the state. She was thorough in interviewing me for specific work-related and health-related information. She was accurate with her prediction about the length of the process. She maintained constant contact with me and always answered my questions and returned my calls in a timely fashion. In short, Ms Brackin was committed to my case and was professional in her interaction with me and the judge. I highly recommend her. In fact, I have already done so!
