Kevin Costello concentrates his state-wide employment rights, school harassment rights and civil rights practice exclusively on behalf of working people of all economic strata and on behalf of their families. Kevin has been a plaintiffs’ trial lawyer for the entirety of his career. He is the founding partner of Costello & Mains, LLC in Mount Laurel, a full state employment, school rights and civil rights plaintiffs’ law firm.
Kevin is Certified by the Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney – one of only approximately 5% of lawyers who earn this Certification – and was one of the amicus counsel in the Lewis v. Harris equal marriage rights case. He is also the holder of a thirteen year old record for the highest verdict in Cape May County history in the Piersante v. Belvedere Condominium Association matter. He has obtained other multi-million dollar verdicts before juries. He is an officer of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors of the New Jersey Association for Justice, as well as the Chair for the Employment and Labor section of that body and Chair of the Civil Practice Committee. He is also the Chairman of the “Boardwalk Seminar” and “Meadowlands Seminar” Employment programs and a past Chair of the Camden County Bar Association Labor and Employment Committee. Kevin is also a past Treasurer and Vice Chair of the GLBT Rights section for the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Kevin has also for years served as a faculty member for trial attorney continuing education, lecturing on behalf NJAJ, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Camden and Burlington County Bar Associations, the NJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Lorman Institute, the National Business Institute and for Garden State Equality. He has also taught extensively in the areas of employment law, civil rights and education civil rights. He has spoken to civic groups, trade groups, public school student bodies and to higher education classes.
He has also testified before Senate and Assembly Committees in support of Employment and Civil Rights legislation.
Kevin has been since 2007 a Board member for the Garden State Equality organization. He is a past member of the New Jersey Supreme Court’s Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law.
He has appeared on TV and Radio, both locally and nationally, to discuss employment and civil rights, pending legislation, and cases handled by the firm. He has been published in his field in periodicals, educational materials and treatises.
Kevin has been named a “Champion of Equality” by Garden State Equality and a “Super Lawyer” in one capacity or another for the past nine years running. He has been named a “Top One Hundred Trial Lawyer” by the American Trial Lawyers’ Association and has received a 10-Year “BV Distinguished Peer Rating” by Martindale-Hubble. He has been named a New Jersey Monthly “Top Attorney” in New Jersey for three years running by New Jersey Monthly magazine. He has received recognition as a “Top 100 Litigators in NJ” in 2013 and 2014 by the American Society of Legal Advocates.
Kevin lives in South Jersey with his wife and son.
