John Paul Velez

I met John while he was a public defender in Morris County. In every case he represented me he did an outstanding job. He always looked out for me and became a friend. During the worst times in my life he was there. He did his job and did it well. He fought for me every time. He always gave me the be...st legal advice as well as life. As here grew in his career and went to being a private attorney he never forgot about me. He stayed in touch and even visited me in the hospital. I can never repay John for all he has done for me. He recently helped me in a traffic case where I was facing jail time. Needless to say John did his magic again and I was amazed. I didn't do jail time and just paid a fine. He has represented me in criminal and traffic cases and every time he had done his very best. John is an amazing man and attorney. If you hire him you won't be disappointed. My case occurred in NJ, as a second time drug related offense. From the start, Mr. Velez never used any scare tactics or set any unrealistic goals and gave me his legal opinion unfettered by any other motive than to help my case and make sure that my future is not ruined. As I currently attend colleg...e, he contacted me frequently and reviewed case related material while on the phone with me and was very respectful of when I was free to talk. In the courthouse, Mr. Velez performed wonders. He is very experienced with these cases and presented my case in the council of the judge and the probation department to help my cause. The results: punishments down to a fine and one-year probation (with my records able to be expunged) from jail time and thousands of dollars in fines. I am very grateful to have found an attorney as experienced and effective as Mr. Velez.

Long story short, I got arrested for a DUI and careless driving. I had hired a lawyer previous to hiring John and that just didn't go well. He did not meet any of the requirements, I don't want to go into much detail but in conclusion he just wasn't a good lawyer. I spoke to one of my good friends ab...out the whole situation; him and his family advised me that I should go to John and John only. Well I ended up finding out as to why they kept insisting I should go to him. John is professional, organized and knows exactly what he needs to do. I met with him and we sat down for two hours just going over my discovery, for every line he read on the discovery he wrote a note about it. He highlited and must of wrote a good 5-7 pages about things he thought were important on my discovery (something my previous lawyer failed to do). As soon as I met him I told him I wanted him as my lawyer, just by the way he carried himself and how much knowledge he has I just knew I was in great hands. I recently just had my last court date and I am very happy with the results all thanks to John. I advice anyone that is in a situation similar to mine to go to him, I wish I had from the very beginning. Trust me, you will not be dissapointed.

In addition to all the praise John earned in the other reviews, when he was a Public Defender for my daughter, not only did he fight for her, he visited her in the hospital (just because), and asks about her whenever our paths cross. He has gone out of his way to help when help was needed and unsoli...cited (but necessary) guidance was given simply because that is the kind of person he is. When you need an upright, dedicated, completely professional attorney, think of John. When you need a decent, caring human being as your advocate or just as a friend, think of John.

I can't say enough good things about John. He did a great job helping me with my situation when i really didn't think there was any hope (2nd DUI). He was very insightful, diligent and did his homework. He explained different scenarios to me and possible outcomes. He never sugarcoated anything, w...hich i appreciated...rather be upfront than lie to me and make it sound better than reality. Overall John is a good guy and a great lawyer. He defended me to the best of his abilities and in the end...i was very happy with my outcome (DUI thrown out). To put it into perspective; after my trial, the prosecutor told me that my lawyer did one hell of a job for me and i should be thankful. I am very thankful, John did a great job. I would 100% recommend using John as your lawyer.
