This Firm has not paid AVVO any money for these ratings. Information about how AVVO rates attorneys is available on this website at https://www.avvo.com/support/avvo_rating. Finally, pursuant to the June 21, 2017 Joint Opinion of the Advisory Committee on Professional Ethics, Committee on Attorney Advertising, and Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law, we do not offer legal services or legal plans through AVVO.
In addition, please note that I am one of many attorneys rated by AVVO, and many of those attorneys have also received the same ratings as I have. The inclusion of me in a list of "superb" or "top attorneys" does not mean that I am a "superb" or "top." You should not use AVVO's ratings as the sole basis for determining whether to hire any attorney.

He held my papers for over 3o days and never contacted me. I had to cancel a preheating phone conference because he had my paper work. And because he never contacted me I must now represent myself in Superior Court because it is to late to hire an attorney. He claims there was no case but if he read...
I'm sorry about your experience. I do not agree with your characterizations of our interaction. Consistent with applicable Rules of Professional Responsibility and relevant ethics opinions, I cannot comment beyond that. I wish you the best of luck with the matter.

Walter Luers,Esq.
Mr. Luers is a very competent attorney. In the several years I have known him, primarily in his role as the President of the NJ Foundation for Open Government (NJFOG), an organization upon which I sit as Trustee, I have come to appreciate his dedication, legal knowledge, leadership and integrity.

Excellent experience
Walter Luers is an excellent lawyer. In so many ways. 1st of course is his supreme competence in his area of expertise. In my case I needed someone who knows the Open Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act backwards and forwards. Walter is THE expert in the state of New Jersey. His advice ...
"Walter is a first class attorney, it is a pleasure to work with him, and he goes above and beyond to obtain great results for his clients."
"Having worked with Walter on a number of occasions, I feel very comfortable encouraging others to trust them with their legal matters, particularly in the areas of OPRA requests and Landlord-Tenant matters, even though my practice area overlaps with his in the latter."
"I endorse this lawyer. Walter and I worked together when we were both younger lawyers. Since then he has been an invaluable resource to me on New Jersey matters, and FOIA-related matters which have come up in my practice. Walter has an exceptional legal mind."
"An excellent lawyer who treats clients with patience, care, understanding, and utmost professionalism - an even better person and I wholeheartedly recommend for future services."
"Walter runs an admirable practice with a focus on OPRA and OPMA matters, providing an essential service to the general public by keeping government agencies open and honest. Walter approaches his cases with creativity, curiosity, and intelligence, and his expertise in OPRA and OPMA is simply unparalleled. Walter is responsible for bringing important and precedential cases as high as the Supreme Court of New Jersey, resulting in greater government transparency for everybody. I find these actions heroic, and I'm very proud to be working with Walter towards a more transparent New Jersey."
"I endorse this lawyer. Walter is an exceptionally smart, competent and persistent attorney. He is also an essential open government attorney in New Jersey, having litigated many of the important questions under N.J's OPRA since it was enacted, winning important victories for transparency, and for his clients, throughout the state."

"I endorse this lawyer. Mr Luers is an effective advocate for his clients."
"I highly recommend Walter Luers as a litigation attorney. He has a creative legal mind, and a commitment to open government. I can't think of any lawyer I would rather have represent me in a matter brought under OPRA, OPMA, or any other litigation against a government entity. I can't speak highly enough of his work."
